Popular Series I’m Ashamed I Haven’t Read (Yet)

As you may or may not be able to tell by the title of this post, I will be talking about (popular) book series that I haven’t read yet! And yes, I am quite ashamed of it! I hereby give you permission to throw sticks and tomatoes at me! 😀

Keep the image of Cersei’s Walk of Shame in mind because that’s what I will be thinking of with every series I’m going to mention! *hides*

The Infernal Devices trilogy by Cassandra Clare:

I KNOW, I KNOW! Shame on me. This has been on my TBR for the longest time, probably since I finished City of Heavenly Fire (which was AGES ago!!!) so you have every right to throw things at me 😀

A Court of Thorns and Roses trilogy by Sarah J. Maas:

ACOTAR ACOMAF ACOWAR

This is another series that I’ve been meaning to read for sooo long BUT GUESS WHAT?! I got ACOTAR last week and A Court of Mist and Fury is on its way!!! I also pre-ordered A Court of Wings and Ruin SOOOOOO this will be read very soon!!!!!!!!

The Raven Cycle by Maggie Stiefvater:

Ready to disown me yet? I honestly have no good explanation as to why I haven’t read this one yet. I know that it’s great and amazing and everbody loves it and I WILL get to it soon. Soon-ish. Ha!

Shades of Magic trilogy by V.E. Schwab:

ADSOM

I haven’t really heard of this series until the beginning of 2017 (I believe?) so it hasn’t been on my TBR for too long! I’ll try to get around to it eventually but for now this will sit on my TBR for a while because I want to tackle the books that have been on it for a couple years first! :’)

The Bone Season by Samantha Shannon:

The Bone Season

First off, how pretty are these new covers? ❤ On the one hand, I am loving the cover change but on the other hand….. I already have two mismatched editions of The Bone Season and The Mime Order and once I’ll buy The Song Rising, I’ll have ANOTHER edition = 3 different editions of the same series. That BUGS ME TO NO END!!!!! I might have to buy the new editions of the first two books just so I have a matching set 😥 Shame on you, Samantha Shannon for making me waste more money on books!!!!!! 😀 Anyway, back to the point! I’ve put The Bone Season on my April TBR but life is getting very busy right now and I have a feeling that I won’t be able to read this series this month!

Quick side note: Six of Crows would have been on this list too BUT I HAVE JUST STARTED READING IT AND I’M ONLY ON CHAPTER 3 AND IT’S SOOOO GOOD HELP ME!!!!!!! I am not ready for it like PHYSICALLY and EMOTIONALLY not ready to read it! I think I’ll have to take a break because I NEED TIME to read this book and fully immerse myself in it and the beautiful characters. I think I’ll just read ACOTAR first because I can’t deal with all the feels that SOC is giving me right now 😀

So, that’s it for the popular series I’m ashamed I haven’t read yet! To be honest with you guys, I could make a part 2 out of this because there’s a lot more series that I haven’t read yet! But I feel like 5 was enough for today 😀

As always, thanks for reading!

Jackie x

Have you read any of these series? (You probably have, why am I even asking.) Which popular series have you not read yet? And do you feel as ashamed as I do? Which of the series I mentioned should I read first??? Let’s chat in the comments!

  1. You know what’s awesome? Apart from the Bone Season, all the other series have finished meaning you get to BINGE READ!! Yaay!! I haven’t read the Raven Cycle series yet either, and I haven’t read Crooked Kingdom. All the other series on your list I have read and they are all my favourites 💜💜

  2. Ahhhh I love this post because you’re mentioning my favorite series (except The Raven Cycle)!! I’m so happy to know you’re loving Six of Crows already! It’s gonna ruin you emotionally because the cast are just so diverse and lovable. Don’t rush! Take that break and come back to the book when you are ready!

      1. Hahaha no they’re different series but I can see why you were thinking that!! 😂 I really can’t tell you which one to read first – all I know is that I’ll probably be reading Six of Crows next! You might want to read the Grisha trilogy before SoC though! They’re both set in the same world but have nothing to do with each other! It’s not a necessity but I’ve been told that it helps you understand the Grishaverse in SoC better! 🙂

  3. I’ve read a couple of the series you mentioned… they were not for me lol.

I still haven’t read The Young Elites. I’ve had a copy for a couple months now so I feel really bad about not getting to it yet 🙈.

    1. Yeah, there are always people who don’t like the popular and hyped up series but that’s okay, we all have our different tastes 🙂
I own the first book of The Young Elites but I can’t seem to find the time to read it! I might have to go on a binge-reading spree this summer just to get through all of these series 😀

  4. Haha Jackie, I’m in the same boat as you! I haven’t read any of those series as well! I own Clockwork Angel, A Court of Thorns and Roses and the first book in the Shades of Magic series, but I haven’t had the time to get to any of them just yet! Hopefully I can get to them this summer!

  5. I haven’t read the shades of magic series either. I’ve had the first two books on my shelf since forever lol. I hope you LOVE the ACOTAR series when you get to them! And the infernal devises trilogy was by far my favourite Cassandra Clare series!

  6. I’ve read the first book in TID trilogy but I haven’t finished the rest of the series yet. I’ve read the first two books in ACOTAR and currently I’m eagerly waiting for ACOWAR. The Raven Cycle didn’t worked out for me. Shades of Trilogy is already in my tbr and I’m planning to read it soon. I haven’t read the Bone Season either.

    1. I hear the TID trilogy is a lot better than Cassie Clare’s TMI series so I’ll definitely need to read that soon! I have just ordered the first book of the Raven Cycle so I’m interested to see how I’ll like it! Thanks for stopping by ❤️

  7. Lol, the series I need to read are THG and TMI. And finish the Shades of Magic trilogy. XD Please read the Raven Cycle! It wasn’t a favorite series until the very last book, but it’s just wonderful. And WHAT GO READ SOC RIGHT NOW YOUNG LADY!!! HOW DARE YOU!!! XDD

    1. I’m so glad I read the TMI series as the books came out because I don’t think I’d have to motivation to read 6 books right now 😀 and I ordered the first two Raven Cycle books so I’ll hopefully start that one soon! BUT NOT BEFORE I READ SIX OF CROWS DON’T WORRY! I’ll get back to it soon, I just can’t handle all the feels right now 😂😂

  8. I’ve never read either of Sarah J. Maas’ series so I’m definitely in that boat, and I haven’t read any of Cassandra Clare’s series either. I’ve also had Brandon Sanderson’s books on my tbr list for a long time, and Robin Hobb’s series (although Hobb I hope to start next month!).

    1. I haven’t read anything by SJM either! I have only just started reading A Court of Thorns and Roses and it’s great so far 🙂
Ahh, yes, Brandon Sanderson! I’ve been meaning to read his books for a while! Hope you’ll get to Hobb’s series! 🙂

  9. I should be shamed right along with you. I haven’t read these series yet either. I just started ACOTAR a couple days ago and I must say I like it so far. I’m on Chapter 10. I had attempted A Darker Shade of Magic last year, but things got a little hectic and I ended up having to return it to the library. I’m thinking of picking it up again since I now own a copy.

      1. It’s such a relief. I always thought it was just me. I would like to hear your thoughts on ACOTAR when you finish it. I most likely will pick up A Darker Shade of Magic next month and will definitely let you know my thoughts on it.

  10. Don’t worry, you’re not alone! The only series I’ve read here is The Raven Cycle (and I have the last book to read still, but I’m planning on reading it in May)

  11. Oh my gosh, this is a great list of books! You have to read them. I’ve only read book 1 of the Raven Cycle and intend to read the rest soon but the others are great. You should definitely get to it, especially A Darker Shade of Magic. Although, ACOTAR doesn’t get amazing until book 2 in my opinion, just so you know.

    1. Hahaha thank you 😛 I’ve been eyeing ADSOM for a while now and I really need to buy these books ASAP because I have a feeling I’ll love them! And this post is a little older so I’ve already read the ACOTAR books and I love them so much! 😍

  12. holy crap haha I thought I had some major series on my TBR pile, still not read but you are the queen I guess, lol. The infernal devices, a court of thorns and roses :O.. Clare and Sarah are my favorite authors so I’m very curious to see what you’ll think of these series. Only positive thing about waiting to read these books is; you have the opportunity to read them all at once instead of waiting at least a year between books every time a new one has to be published haha. The waiting is soooo terrible!

A darker shade of magic is still on my tbr as well. Bought the first two books in London last year – both of them signed :O – but still haven’t read them even though I’ve only heard positive things about this series.
Same goes for the raven cycle. Haven’t read it yet – I own the first three books – but keep hearing great things about the books. Hopefully I find the time to start them this year. There’s just no telling when I decide to start a series I haven’t read yet but is very popular. I really need to be ‘in the mood’ for a specific book when I choose a new read.

    1. Hahaha yes, I claim to be a booknerd but I’m not really on top of my game when it comes to keeping up with series 😂

I’ve read the ACOTAR series very recently and I completely fell in love with it! I binge-read the entire series and it was just SO DAMN GOOD!

Ugh yes, I hate waiting for books! Whether it’s a new release or the sequel to a series… it’s the worst XD

Let’s hope we’ll get to both of these series soon! I still need to buy the ADSOM books but I’m hoping to do that soon! And it’s the same for me! I might be in the mood for a series when I buy it but then it gets here and I’m like… nooo let me read something else!
