Blogger Recognition Award

BLOGGER RECIOGN AWARD

Hello there, my dear friends!

I am skipping this week’s Top Ten Tuesday because I’ve done a similar topic for the ‘Things That Make Me Want To Read A Book’-topic 2 weeks ago so check that out if you’re interested in seeing what I’d like to see more in books!

I was nominated for the Blogger Recognition Award! Zuky @ the BookBum tagged me A LONG TIME AGO and I finally got around to it! I was also tagged by Lois @ Lois Reads Books recently. Thank you both so much for this! You know the drill, if you have never heard of neither Zuky nor Lois, you better go click those two links RIGHT NOW and follow them! They’re amazing

cheers (6)

  • Thank the blogger who nominated you and provide a link to their blog.
  • Give a brief story of how your blog started.
  • Give two pieces of advice to new bloggers.
  • Select 10 other bloggers you want to give this award to.
  • Comment on each blog and let them know you have nominated them and provide the link to the post you created.

Umm, let’s see….. The idea of having a blog has been playing around in my mind for quite a while – weeks, if not months before I created Too Much of a Book Nerd! I was very into makeup but also books and since I’m too shy (and scared lol) to have my own YouTube account, I decided a blog is the way to go! I was going to do a Makeup/Books crossover blog but eventually decided against it, as I am not makeup expert and pretty much just do whatever I want with it! 😀 So then, one day, when I had particularly too much time on my hands, I read like 10 different posts on ‘How To Create Your Own Blog’, picked a name for it, created an About page, my first blog post and boom – now here we are! 😀

cheers (7)Comment, comment, comment: If you liked someone’s post, let them know! It doesn’t matter whether it is a short and quick “Great post!” or a super long paragraph where you discuss every single detail – I think every blogger appreciates every single comment they get! At least I know that I do! ❤

Commenting on other people’s blogs also helps you to get your name out there and other bloggers might discover your blog and you will get comments in return!

Another thing is to always respond to your comments! I’ve had the experience with 1 or 2 people who never ever responded to any of mine or anyone else’s comments! That just irritated me to no end!

Be yourself: Don’t force yourself to be someone you’re not. If you hate a book that everyone adores, say it! Write that 1 star/DNF review and let people know! If you love participating in weekly memes, go for it! If you’re not into Young Adult, blog about the genre that you love! You are who you are and you have your own opinions and preferences. Don’t look at what other people are doing or try to be like them! And don’t be afraid to speak your mind (as long as you’re not offending anyone). JUST BE YOURSELF! ❤

If you don’t do tags/awards , if you’ve been tagged before or if you simply want to skip this one, feel freet to do so! 😛 And if you WANT to have a go at it, consider yourself tagged!

That’s it for my little pieces of advice! I haven’t been blogging for too long but I hope they were helpful 😛

Thanks for reading!

  1. Your bit of advice about commenting is something that I have to constantly remind myself. So often I read posts that I love but always forget to leave a note in the comments section… but it makes such a difference, even if it’s just brightening someone’s day! 🙂

    1. You’re so right! I think everyone of us appreciate a nice comment even if it’s just a short “great post!” 🙂 Of course there are times when I’m too lazy or not in the mood to comment on all these posts but I at least try to do it frequently! 🙂

  2. Commenting is definitely an important factor. Thank you so much for the tag/nomination! I’ve already done some similar posts to this so I won’t be doing it myself but I appreciate that you thought of me! Also, I’ve seen your comments and stuff on my blog but for some reason I never actually checked out your blog *face palm*

  3. Comments are little gems! I love logging on and seeing that someone has taken their time to read through the post that I have put so much effort to put together – it is those people who I blog for!

  4. Congratulations! I’m with you on your advice. Commenting and supporting other people’s blogs are key, as well as being yourself! It’s the best way to find your own voice, and then your own little community 😀
Thank you for nominating me! I’ve done this award before, but I’m thinking of doing some again since a lot of lovely bloggers (including you!) are nominating me again 😀

  5. I agree, I love receiving comments and I think it’s the best way to start talking to other bloggers. I’ve learnt so many things by asking other bloggers and getting involved on others’ posts!! Great post! 🙂

  6. I believe this sentence should be: “…created an About page, my first blog post and boom – now here we are! –WITH 200 FOLLOWERS IN 2 MONTHS WHOOP WHOOP I’M AMAZING–” XDD Anyways, I totally agree with your advice! Commenting is a MUST (and you’re great at it 😉 ) to getting your name out and just showing your support! I have a problem with commenting TOO much. O.o XD It’s also really important to be yourself — gotta be original! 😛

I’m so glad you made your blog, Jackie! It’s wonderful, you’re wonderful, and I never would’ve been able to meet you if you hadn’t! ❤

    1. HAHAHAHA MAY, YOU ALWAYS MAKE ME LAUGH 😀 It truly is mind-blowing though that I reached 200 followers in 2 months?! WHAT KIND OF MAGIC IS THIS!!?! 😀

Anyway, thanks so much! I’m glad you agree! Aww, thanks I am trying my best 😛 and I DON’T MIND when you comment too much, you’re always welcome to do that and I’ll make sure to reply appropriately 😛

AWWW, here I am, tearing up again! You’re too sweet and I’m so glad I made this blog too and got to know you!!! I don’t even know who followed whom first but who cares? You’re one of the most awesomest (I know that’s not a word) friends I’ve made on here ❤ ❤

  8. I just re-read this post and caught the thing about makeup. How odd is it that I started my blog the same way pretty much? I LOVE makeup and before my husband and I moved from NC I was free-lancing with a hair salon doing wedding makeup. I had thought about starting my own youtube channel but felt really nervous about it and didn’t feel like I was good enough when I watch people like Kristen Leanne, and since I LOVE books I decided to make my own blog.

    1. Ahh really?! What a coincidence! I never actually posted about makeup on my blog because it’s pretty much just a hobby of mine and I just do what feels right so I’d be the wrong person to give advice on that!

It’s so cool that you’ve been doing wedding makeup! And I’m sure you could always start a YouTube channel! You shouldn’t compare yourself to her, I bet you are great at what you’re doing! And she started at 0 too and has probably learned over the years so if you feel like having a YouTube channel, I’d say go for it! 😊😊

      1. Yes, what an awesome coincidence! I love doing makeup, but I was nervous about doing the wedding makeup. I was working as a salon receptionist and the owner liked how I did my own makeup and took a chance on me. Now that we moved to a different state I feel like I should try to get a bit of training before I get back in to it. I have no cosmetology schooling, I have just always loved makeup lol.

  9. Firstly, I am SO BEHIND on your posts omg haha expect a load of comments from me now. ❤ ❤ Secondly, I love your tips so much and agree 100%!! Commenting is so important when it comes to blogging, I think it takes more time for me to blog hop and such rather than writing my own posts haha. But it's the best way to connect with people and make friends, so totally worth it! 😀

    1. 😂😂😂 can’t wait to read them all!
I’m glad you think so! And that is so true, sometimes I’ll spend two hours blog hopping/commenting without even realising it! It’s crazy 😀 yesss, connecting with fellow book lovers is honestly my favourite part about blogging! ❤️
