The Goodreads Book Tag

I am so SO behind on all of my tags, I literally have 2 pages in my blog journal filled with Awards/Tags and I’m so bad at keeping up but I’M TRYING!!! 😀

Anyway, welcome to the Goodreads Book Tag!

I’ve been using Goodreads for years now and I am SO glad that it exists! It’s literally a DREAM for every book nerd! It’s such a great way to keep up with books you’ve read and TBR books and discovering new books! And being able to connect with other fellow book lovers all over the world is just incredible! ❤

Feel free to befriend me on Goodreads here!

I was tagged by Nadwa @ Painfully Fictional a long, long time ago lol (as I said, I’m trying to keep up XD) and Sheri @ Read in a Flash who tagged me very recently so I thought: “Alright Jackie, it’s time to get it together!”

So here we are 😀

Enjoy the Goodreads Book Tag!

What Was The Last Book You Marked As Read?

Renegades by Marissa Meyer

I have literally only just heard about this book a few days ago when Nadwa made a post about it!!! I can’t believe I didn’t find out about this before because it sounds AWESOME!

“…a star-crossed love story between a girl who’s been raised by supervillains and a boy who’s been raised by superheroes.”

I’M SOLD HELLO WHERE CAN I GET MY COPY

What Are You Currently Reading?

The Alchemists of Loom by Elise Kova

The author Elise Kova is hosting a buddy read on Facebook (which you can still join here if you can catch up on 20 chapters in a day XD) and I am really enjoying it so far! I got the eBook for under 1$ (whaaat?) when Elise did some kind of promotion thingy for the group buddy read! It’s honestly such a great book, I might write a review once I’m through with it at the end of the month! 😀

A Court of Wings and Ruin by Sarah J. Maas

Well, my ACOWAR copy F I N A L LY came last Friday (after being delayed like TWICE) and I have finally started reading it (I hope you’re proud, Bella)! It’s taking me a while because I keep over-analyzing every single line lol but it’s great so far!!! 😛

What Do You Plan To Read Next?

Wellllllll… a few days ago I picked out 5 books from my shelves and put them on my night stand which now kind of serve as my ‘priority-books-to-read-next’ if that makes any sense? But the next book I’m going to read won’t be from that stack of books (lol talk about priority reads :P) but rather from my endless e-ARCs waiting on Kindle!

One Of Us Is Lying by Karen M. McManus

I was so excited when I got approved to read One Of Us Is Lying on Netgalley and since this is coming out soon, I’ll be reading that next!!!!! 😀 😀

Do You Use The Star Rating System?

Yes I do! I usually don’t rate under 3 stars though! I think I’m too generous a lot of the time but I feel like just because I PERSONALLY did not like the book, doesn’t mean someone else wouldn’t like it! And if the writing and everything was good and I didn’t notice any issues/problematic things, I am most likely going to give it 3 stars! 😀

Are You Doing A 2017 Reading Challenge?

2017 Reading Challenge

2017 Reading Challenge
Jackie has
read 35 books toward
her goal of
50 books.
hide

Of course!!! I have recently upped my goal because I had already reached my goal of reading 30 books 😀

Do You Have A Wishlist?

Not really! I have a few books that I’d consider my ‘priority- buys/reads’ in my Amazon cart and I check it every day to see if the prices have changed! So that’s kind of like a wishlist 😀

What Book Do You Plan On Buying Next?

Umm, well since my book-buying ban didn’t quite work out in April (I’’ll probably have to do a haul soon XD) I’ve decided not to buy any books in May instead! And it’s going well so far! Let’s see how long that will last 😀 I’ve pre-ordered When Dimple Met Rishi ages ago so that should be the book that I’ll be receiving next (if I don’t buy other books first XD)!

Do You Have Any Favorite Quotes?

Can I just say all Shatter Me quotes? No? Well, let me just mention a few of them anyway 😛

THE MOST ICONIC LINE EVER:

“Ignite, my love. Ignite.”

Tahereh Mafi, Ignite Me

WARNER = KING OF DRAGGING!!!

“Do you never get exhausted being so wholly unbearable? You have as much charisma as the rotting innards of unidentified roadkill.”

Tahereh Mafi, Ignite Me

I WANT TO DIE JUST THINKING ABOUT THIS SCENE:

“And we are quotation marks, inverted and upside down, clinging to one another at the end of this life sentence. Trapped by lives we did not choose.”

Tahereh Mafi, Ignite Me

YES GIRL YES GIRL Y E S  G I R L:

“I like the way I feel about myself when I’m with him.” I say quietly. “Warner thinks I’m strong and smart and capable and he actually values my opinion. He makes me feel like his equal–like I can accomplish just as much as he can, and more. And if I do something incredible, he’s not even surprised. He expects it. He doesn’t treat me like I’m some fragile little girl who needs to be protected all the time.”

Tahereh Mafi, Ignite Me

some non-Shatter Me quotes lol:

“I took a breath. “Your highness—”
“Nikolai,” he corrected. “But I’ve also been known to answer to ‘sweetheart’ or ‘handsome.”

Leigh Bardugo, Siege and Storm

“There are good days and hard days for me—even now. Don’t let the hard days win.”

Sarah J. Maas, A Court of Mist and Fury

“To the people who look at the stars and wish, Rhys.”
Rhys clinked his glass against mine. “To the stars who listen— and the dreams that are answered.”

Sarah J. Maas, A Court of Mist and Fury

Who Are Your Favorite Authors?

Tahereh (Queen of YA) Mafi, Leigh Bardugo, Marie Lu – my holy trinity ❤

Have You Joined Any Groups?

I have but I don’t use them that much!

EXCEPT FOR THE NEW YA BOOK BLOGGERS GROUP THAT NADWA HAS CREATED BECAUSE WE PLANNED TO BUDDY READ CINDER!!! If you want to join us, feel free to join the group!!! Check out Nadwa’s post for more info! We will be buddy-reading it in July and there will also be other really cool things happening 😉

That’s it for the Goodreads Book Tag!

cheers (10)

I’ve seen a lot of people who have done this tag recently and so I won’t be tagging anyone! But if you’d like to do the tag, consider yourself tagged!

Thanks for reading!

  1. I am thinking of finally finishing Ahsoka by E.K. Johnston so I can start The Dark Days Club by Alison Goodman. I really love Goodreads for the simple fact that I can stalk what everyone else is reading. It allows me to be able to find books I might be interested in. I do use the star rating system though I have started to be more cautious of giving out 5 stars because I used to give them to every book I enjoyed.

    1. Ah, I haven’t heard of both of those books before, what are they about? 😊
And that is exactly why I love Goodreads! I always find new books to read and I pretty much add a new book to my TBR every single day 😂
Same with me! All my ratings from like 2014 are 5 star ratings but I don’t think I’d feel the same way about those books now!

      1. Ahsoka is a novel based in the Star Wars universe. It takes place after the Clone Wars movie and before the Rebels tv show. It gives you a good insight on the type of person Ahsoka is. I am a huge sci-fi nerd and it was a recommendation from one of my friends who loves Star Wars as much as I do. The Dark Days Club deals with like the victorian era and a girl who is high society who I think doesn’t want to be? I have been watching The Crown on Netflix so I have been really into those kinds of things lately. I totally understand that! I am trying to be more aware of what I’m adding to my tbr shelf on Goodreads so I don’t end up with like 500+ books. Yeah I realized now that I have gotten a bit older that like majority of those books were not 5 star books. I am just too lazy to go back and change them.

      2. Ahhh thank you so much for the little summaries about the novels! I have never seen Star Wars *shame on me, I know* but Tje Dark Days Club sounds so interesting! I’m in a Victorian novels class and I love it so I’ll have to check that one out! 😇
Down the TBR Hole is such a great meme to clean out your TBR! I love doing it and seeing other people’s clean-ups as well!

      3. I actually gasped in real life, but it’s understandable. I don’t think Star Wars is everyone’s cup of tea. I am so excited to read The Dark Days Club. It is sitting on my floor mocking me.
That is so true though! I plan on doing another post for it this week actually since I am settled in for the summer.

  2. That was fun to read. 😀
I have only been using Goodreads for a while, I was trying to find recommendations, and I knew Goodreads was good for that. I’ve joined the 2017 reading challenge, and I’m slowly getting through it. I’ve only put down 20 books, but that’s still at least 18 more books than I read last year XD

    1. Thanks 😀 When I first discovered Goodreads, it felt like a dream – all these fellow book lovers and their recommendations and ahhh 😍
Hahaha and I used to be the same! Last year I read like 8 books and then it was December and I realised I still didn’t reach my Reading Challenge goal so I binge-read like 6 of my shortest books to reach it 😅

  3. Lovely answers! I added that new Marissa Meyer book to my TBR recently as well, it sounds SO good, I can’t wait to read it! I need to buy When Dimple Met Rishi as soon as I can, I keep hearing amazing things about it 🙂
Your quotes choices are awesome ❤

AHHH ACOWAR!!…okay we’ve calmed down now…😁🤓

        Liked by 1 person

      2. Ahhhh no I’m sowwy *puppy eyes* 😋 but a little bit of healthy fangirling has never hurt anyone 😉
HAHA THAT WOULD BE ME!! Just throwing Tahereh’s books at everyone 😂 and if you’re calm you should probably go back and study before the next wave of fangirl feels hits you!!!

        Liked by 1 person

      3. Oh fangirling never hurt us but rather those around us that haven’t yet ventured down the fandom path 😉 and we’re pretty calm most of the time until our fangirlyness is triggered by a fangirly post 🤓❤

        Liked by 1 person

      4. Ahh I feel the same! That moment when you’re just calmly scrolling through your WordPress reader and you stumble across something that you love and suddenly you’re in the fangirl mode and it’s all about squealing and screaming and a thousand emojis 😂😂

    1. WOOOOO I LOVE THOSE TWO!!! That reminds me, I still want to reread the Legend trilogy! It’s been too long and I miss June and Day 😭😭

Ahhh yay!!! I can’t wait for you to have a Goodreads account and realise what you’ve been missing all your life 😉 (that might be a little over-exaggerated XD)

I know, I know *hides in shame* I was never interested in the whole cyborg aspect of Cinder but a lot of fellow bloggers have convinced me to give it a shot!! I really hope that I’ll like it!

Ahhhh I know right?!?! I almost cried when I got the One Of Us is Lying email 😂

I haven’t picked up my ACOWAR copy yet but I’m planning to read it soon. I can’t wait to read Dimple Met Rishi! Leigh Bardugo and Tahereh Mafi are my favorite authors too! 🙂

  6. AHHH I WANT TO READ RENEGADES SO BAD OML and I have my ACOWAR copy but I accidentally read a couple of bad reviews for it and now I’m too nervous to pick it up hehe.
I’m literally so excited for Dimple and Rishi!! And I haven’t read Shatter Me??? sorry
and also YES because the Leigh Bardugo quote is GOLD.
also you haven’t read Cinder?? Are you kidding me??? Well… then again, I haven’t read Shatter Me xD..
And yes, I use Goodreads ALL THE TIMe. I try to use five star ratings and I just avoid using point ratings or any other type heh.

    Liked by 1 person

    1. I’ve avoided reading about ACOWAR until now because people have been mentioning so many spoilers!!! But I’ve heard of some negative things regarding it but I am loving it so far!! ❤

Let's make a deal… I'll read Cinder when you read Shatter Me 😛 Haha, I'm just kidding but Shatter Me is awesome and I can totally recommend it!!!!!!! XD

Same, I check Goodreads every single day! And I try not to rate any books under 3 stars because it just makes me feel bad 😛

      Thank you for commenting!!! ❤

      Like

      1. Thank God you love it! I might just pick it up eventually… 😛

Lolll I WANT to read Shatter Me but there’s so much hype surrounding it and I’m nervoussss

And I know right?? It’s hard for me to rate something one star, I’ll probably rate a book I hated two stars because there was ONE tiny good thing about it.

        No problem 😄

        Liked by 1 person

      2. Shatter Me is a series that people either LOOOVVEEE or hate lol XD There’s really no inbetween! I really hope you’ll like it thought if you ever get around to it! (Don’t worry, I won’t be mad if you don’t read it any time soon 😉)

And yes that could literally be me!

  7. Renegades sounds awesome! I hadn’t heard of it until just now through this post so you’re doing better than me! Lol! Also, One of Us is lying is on my TBR sounds creepy good!

PS I’ve got a question – how did you include that goodreads reading challenge box link thing in this post?? I want to add one of those to my posts but I’ve no idea how 😛

    Liked by 1 person

    1. Haha 😀 One Of Us Is Lying is sooo good so far!!!

I’m on my phone right now but you can find that reading challenge widget in the Settings section (I believe?)! It’s like divided into different categories at the top and one of them says Widgets! And then you just scroll down to the bottom and you’ll find a HTML code to paste into your post! I hope that made sense?

If you can’t find it, please let me know and I’ll check again when I’m using my computer so I can properly explain it to you! 😂💞

      1. OKAY I’M BACK!!! 😀
So, go to Goodreads on your Computer because that’s the only way you’ll find it! 😛 Then click on your profile picture in the right hand corner and a list of different sections should open up! You’ll find “Account Settings” as one of the last sections so click on that! You will be lead to a page where you can edit your profile but there’s more sections at the top like Settings, Feeds, Apps etc and you have to click on the “Widgets” section! There you will find a lot of different HTML codes for things like your currently reading shelf etc! Just scroll to the bottom of the page and there you should find the GR Reading Challenge widget!

I hope that was somewhat understandable??? :’)

        Like

      2. I clicked on Account Settings and there isn’t anything that shows different sections that list Widgets under that. 😦 Do you have a different WordPress plan like business or something or do you have wordpress.org? I guess I’ll just settle for screencapping it instead lol but thank you for trying to help! ❤
