My Summer TBR!

IT’S ALMOST THE END OF MAY WHICH MEANS SUMMER IS RIGHT AROUND THE CORNER AND IT’S TIME TO WORK ON YOUR BEACH BODY (which I won’t do bc #lazy) AND BUY CUTE SUMMER-Y CLOTHES WOOO!!!

And it’s also time for a huge Summer TBR!

When I saw that The Broke and the Bookish aka the hosts of Top Ten Tuesday updated their topics for the following weeks and I noticed the Summer Reads Freebie I was like:

“YES I’M GONNA MAKE THIS A HUGE SUMMER TBR FILLED WITH CUTE CHEESY CONTEMPORARIES BECAUSE SUMMERTIME IS THE TIME OF FLUFF AND ADORABLE-NESS”

Yes…. that is the only reason… and not because I have like 30 contemporaries on my shelves that still need to be read and there’s too many contemporary pre-orders waiting to be shipped to my house in the following weeks…

LOL XD

ANYWAY. Then I saw May’s big Summer TBR and if you didn’t know this, May is one of my closest, bestest blogger friends and we are so similar and pretty much agree on almost EVERYTHING, so I KNEW I had to make a Summer TBR post as well! 😀

And since I planned to do a Spring TBR post but forgot about it *cough* or should I say I wouldn’t have followed through with it anyway lol *cough* I DECIDED I’D DEFINITELY DO A TBR FOR SUMMER!

So here we are! This is gonna be a LOOOONG list of mostly contemporaries but also some SFF books so strap yourselves in, get some popcorn and enjoy the ride that is my (very ambitious) SUMMER TBR list!!!!!!!! 😀

BOOKS WITH SUN IN THE TITLE

I own both The Sun Is Also A Star by Nicola Yoon and I’ll Give You The Sun by Jandy Nelson and they’ve been on my TBR for AGES so I really hope to read them soon! I mean, they have the word SUN in the title – I feel like I am obligated to read at least ONE of them!!! 😀

You know that I am a sucker for the geeky, nerdy stories (*cough* GEEKERELLA!!!! <3) and I need more of them!!! My dear friend Mandy has rec’d me a few nerd stories and I hope to read at least a few of those this year!

THE HATE TO LOVE TROPE AHHHH MY FAVORITE

The Hating Game by Sally Thorne / Angelfall by Susan Ee / By Your Side by Kasie West

Okay technically, I’ve already read Angelfall BUT I NEED TO REREAD IT AGAIN AND THEN CONTINUE WITH THE SERIES! IF YOU HAVEN’T PICKED IT UP YET PLEASE DO IT’S SO GREAT I’ve had a review written for this since like February lol I need to post it because this book is so underrated!!!!

Also… The Hating Game!!! All of my friends who know that I’m a SUCKER for hate-to-love tropes rec’d me this book and I REALLY NEED TO READ IT!!! *heart eyes*

And I’ve been meaning to read By Your Side because Mandy (again :P) talked about it in one of her posts and when I read the synopsis just now, I saw that it featured a hate-to-love relationship!!! WOOOO!!! 😀

THE FAKE DATING TROPE AHHHH ANOTHER ONE OF MY FAVORITES

The Fill-In Boyfriend by Kasie West: I have never read any of Kasie West’s books but I’ve seen a lot of bloggers raving about them so I’ll read By Your Side first and this one next! I literally only just discovered this but it sounds like it’s exactly my cup of tea 😀

To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han: Everyone raves about this AND I LOVE FAKE DATING AU’S so let’s have ittttt!

Okay, this is literally turning into a post of books with my favourite tropes lol but……..

I literally JUST discovered this one when I was looking for books that had the friends to lovers trope but it sounds SO GOOD I’m excited!!!

DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY OTHER RECS FOR THE BFFS TO LOVERS TROPE BECAUSE I DIDN’T FIND ANY OTHERS AND IT’S ONE OF MY FAVORITE TROPES SO PLS LET ME KNOW OF BOOKS WITH THAT TROPE I’D BE FOREVER GRATEFUL THANKS

BOOKS I SHOULD HAVE READ AGES AGO

Well, most of the books on my TBR are books that I should have read years ago basically but yeah lol these are the ones that I finally want to read this year 😛

All The Bright Places by Jennifer Niven: This was on May’s Summer TBR and I remembered that I bought this books 3 YEARS AGO and I still haven’t read it so I should probably do that :’)

Actually, if I manage to read at least one book from each of my categories, I’ll be happy *fingers crossed*

  1. AGH YOU ARE ONE OF MY BESTEST BLOGGER FRIENDS AS WELL YOU LITTLE LOVELY NERD ❤ ❤ XD Basically I need to read all of the books on your TBR as well??? Except for some I've already read (like TATBILB and Ari & Dante — and OMG ARI AND DANTE IS THE BEST AND I LOVE IT SO MUCH *cries*). I also don't want to read Everything, Everything and The Sun is Also a Star BUT I MIGHT. XD YAS to Strange the Dreamer, THUG, and Upside (but you haven't read Simon yet??? how dare you??? 😛 ) And OOH I just finished The Serpent King, which has a childhood best friends to lovers (I think). BUT IT'S HEARTBREAKING. 😥

      I've recently bought Ari & Dante and I'll take it with me on vacation!!! I'm excited 😀

      I wasn't the biggest fan of Everything Everything but I heard that The Sun is also a Star is really good and a lot better than EE!

      I don't even own THUG and Upside yet oooops! But I want to read Simon Vs before Upside because it's her first novel 😛

      Ahhhh I'll add The Serpent King to my TBR!!! Even if it's heartbreaking… I need to feel those emotions sometimes :') #emo

      4. Ohh I wish I could go to the library to read all my favourite books, it’d save me so much money :’) and I use the Kindle app on my phone! But I’ve been thinking of getting an ACTUAL Kindle because my eyes always hurt after reading too long because the screen is so small 😂

  3. I’m in love with the fake relationship trope and have read The Fill-In Boyfriend, You’ll adore it! the fact that I’m obsessed with this trope and still haven’t read TATBILB surprises me…. As a Jamaican, I’m dying to read The Sun Is Also A Star, it’s a shame I still havent read it yet. I’ve read THUG and absolutely LOVED it!! My copy of The Upside of Unrequited is on its way and I can’t wait for it to get her cause I adored Simon Vs. And I agree with you about Ari and Dante, I read it last year and had to wonder why I hadn’t read it sooner cause it’s an amazing book and I can’t wait for the sequel! I hope you’ll enjoy all your reads!

    BECAUSE I’VE ONLY READ LIKE THREE OF THESE BOOKS??
    – Geekerella was SUPER GOOD you need to read it SOON
    – The LARA JEAN SERIES IS ONE OF MY FAVORITES so also read that!!

    also you need to read Anna and the French Kiss if you haven’t already!! It’s KIND of a friends to lovers trope, I think? (They meet in the book, but become really good friends) But it kind of borders on cheating sadly, but I still really enjoyed it!

    And yess I NEED to read Strange the Dreamer but I haven’t yet?? (’cause there’s a gajillion other books I need to read.. responsibilities is a thing, sadly) There are so many raving reviews!!

    1. YES PLEASE DO I DON’T MIND!!! I’ve read Geekerella already and it was absolutely adorable! I definitely need to reread it this summer 😍
      And I will make sure to read the Lara Jean series especially if it had fake dating in it!!! XD

      Ahhh yes I knowww! I have Anna and the French Kiss on my night stand but I still didn’t get to it yet! It sounds like a perfect summer read though! (And I know about the cheating bit but we can still enjoy a book and acknowledge the problematicness!)

      I own Strange the Dreamer and I literally stare at the cover every day! If you want to buy it, definitely buy the UK edition! So gorgeous ❤️

        GO READ ANNA AND THE FRENCH KISS SOON!! It was super cute and their conversations were A+ but yeah, I was sad that there was cheating like JUST BREAK UP OMG

        AHHH I have the ebook but I want a physical copy when I read cause everyone says it’s so good!! Laini Taylor is the writing queen omg

  7. Yessss finally we saw someone whose actually read Angelfall!! We totally agree – it is sooo underrated!! We read the series and it still blows up our mind! We finished this trilogy in just three days! (probs ‘cuz we were procrastinating…LOL 😁) Love how you try to limit yourself and make a list of books you MUST read first (even if you don’t in the end 😉)

      3. Oh we tried to input current books we wanted to put on our TBR but gave up! So we usually end up forgetting! We think everyone has this problem – especially if you love all books!! 😂 🤓❤

      7. 5 MORE?!! Really…we thought you were going to do 10 more 😉. Well we probably would do our TBR way later as, we have so many other things to post (and it’s a post that would be most difficult – it would require great planning and thinking!!) Perhaps we will do 10 parts of our TBR 🤔😉

  8. That is pretty ambitious 😀 I kind of want to do a post on my summer tbr because I actually pulled a few books off my TBR shelf before I packed all the books up. I also have a few that I bought since I got to my summer home. It’s not as ambitious as yours but I think I have a few good reads! I’m so excited to read the 20 million book reviews you post.

    1. Ah I know right? I doubt I’ll follow through with this 😂 and I’d totally recommend doing a summer TBR! Even if you don’t get through the books, you’ll have a list of options you can choose from! Hahaha I doubt I’ll be able to write a review on every single one of these but I’ll try! XD

  9. I’ve read and enjoyed a lot of these! Fangirl and I’ll Give You The Sun are one of my favorite books, and The Hate U Give is an amazing and important book, so I’d recommend starting with those. The Fill-In Boyfriend is also the perfect, cute summer read. (I’d say you’re safe to skip By Your Side, to be honest. For a book set in a library, there is ZERO book love.) The Upside of Unrequited is also super cute. Also, if you like cute contemporaries with nerdy boys, I highly recommend The Summer I Became A Nerd!

  12. SO many amazing books on this list! Ari and Dante is my favorite book of all time so I def recommend it! I’m just starting to get into the hate to love trope so I’m totally adding those books to my TBR!

  13. Great TBR! The Hating Game, Angelfall and The Fill-in Boyfriend are my favorite books! I hope you enjoy reading them. I love kasie West’s books but By Your Side turned out to be a huge disappointment for me. If you’re looking for hate-to-love romance then I wouldn’t recommend that book for you. I haven’t read To all the Boys I’ve loved before but I really want to. I’m not fan of best friends to lovers trope but I loved Adorkable By Cookie O’ Gorman. Have you read it yet? If not, then I highly recommend that book to you. Strange The Dreamer and The Upside of Unrequited are also in my tbr. I’m planning to read them in June.

  16. Honestly I want to read basically all of these books as well 😍 ! I think Queens of Geek is highest on my TBR at the minute though. I’ve not heard one bad thing about it. I really want to re-read to all the boys I’ve loved before as well, I loved it when I read it but I’ve forgotten everything now and I really want to carry on with the series! I just can’t wait for University to be over so I can read away my summer with no guilt 😂 ! Great post 💖

I also enjoyed Fangirl, I’ll Give You The Sun, Angelfall and The Sun is Also a Star. Most of the other books are on my TBR! I hope you get around to reading all these fantastic books!

  19. Lol summer is actually coming to an end, here in India, which means RAIN, RAIN, RAIN AND MORE RAIN. I don’t even like monsoon because everything becomes so soggy and walking down the road becomes really messy because #24/7rain leads to the formation of hundreds of Amazons and Niles. I’m not even kidding, Jackie😂 But, that aside, SAME HERE. I’M REALLY BEHIND. I NEED TO CATCH UP WITH CONTEMPORARY BAND WAGON. But the point is, I kinda go ‘bleh’ after reading them. *shrugs* HOPE YOU HAVE A WONDERFUL SUMMER!!!! 💛

  22. SO MANY GREAT BOOKS where do I even begin?!? I haven’t read The Sun is Also a Star yet either but that coverrrrr is so beautiful I want to! But I’ll Give You the Sun is SO AMAZING you must read it asap. Ahhhhhhh The Problem with Forever is so good!! I loved the use of the trope in that one, it was so much fun and so cute and the book itself was so heartbreaking!! And the fake dating trope, YES! The Fill in Boyfriend and To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before are such great examples of that and they were so adorable. And THUG OMG. A thousand times over recommend!!!! And The Upside was SO GOOD *cries* Jackieeeeee read them allllllll. ❤ ❤ Oh, I haven't read Ari & Dante and Strange the Dreamer either, they sound amazing though and I can't wait!!
