I’ve been meaning to do a Most Anticipated June Releases post but then I realised that this week’s Top Ten Tuesday topic had to do with new releases as well so I thought I’d bring the two together!
This week’s TTT topic is Top Ten Most Anticipated Books For The Second Half of 2017!
First, I will be sharing with you the books that are being released in June that I’m most excited about!
Release Date: June 13th 2017
THIS BOOK HAS AN ASIAN MC AND HE HAS A GROUP OF (DIVERSE) FRIENDS/MISFITS AND THEY PLAN TO TAKE DOWN SOME BIG BAD GUY BUT THE MC FALLS IN LOVE WITH THE DAUGHTER OF THE BIG BAD GUYS AND APPARENTLY IT IS “DRIPPING IN DIVERSITY AND DELICIOUS ROMANCE” (according to this review) AND I CAN’T WAIT TO READ IT!!!
“From critically acclaimed author Cindy Pon comes an edge-of-your-seat sci-fi thriller, set in a near-future Taipei plagued by pollution, about a group of teens who risk everything to save their city.
Jason Zhou survives in a divided society where the elite use their wealth to buy longer lives. The rich wear special suits, protecting them from the pollution and viruses that plague the city, while those without suffer illness and early deaths. Frustrated by his city’s corruption and still grieving the loss of his mother who died as a result of it, Zhou is determined to change things, no matter the cost.
With the help of his friends, Zhou infiltrates the lives of the wealthy in hopes of destroying the international Jin Corporation from within. Jin Corp not only manufactures the special suits the rich rely on, but they may also be manufacturing the pollution that makes them necessary.
Yet the deeper Zhou delves into this new world of excess and wealth, the more muddled his plans become. And against his better judgment, Zhou finds himself falling for Daiyu, the daughter of Jin Corp’s CEO. Can Zhou save his city without compromising who he is, or destroying his own heart?”
Bad Romance by Heather Demetrios
Release Date: June 13th 2017
“Unapologetic, real, unabashedly honest, Bad Romance is probably the best break-up story I have ever read.” Apparently, this is a very heavy, tough book with themes such as suicide, emotional/physical abuse (trigger warning!) that make you think and feel. But at the same time “Heather Demetrios never lets you feel like this book is a black hole of despair. And that’s probably what kept me turning the pages until way past my bedtime.” From the reviews I’ve seen on Goodreads, this will be an incredibly eye-opening, honest and emotional book and I can’t wait for it to come out.

“Grace wants out. Out of her house, where her stepfather wields fear like a weapon and her mother makes her scrub imaginary dirt off the floors. Out of her California town, too small to contain her big city dreams. Out of her life, and into the role of Parisian artist, New York director—anything but scared and alone.
Enter Gavin: charming, talented, adored. Controlling. Dangerous. When Grace and Gavin fall in love, Grace is sure it’s too good to be true. She has no idea their relationship will become a prison she’s unable to escape.
Deeply affecting and unflinchingly honest, this is a story about spiraling into darkness—and emerging into the light again.”
Release Date: June 27th 2017
I’ve seen ARCs of this book around EVERYWHERE and I don’t know anything about it but the synopsis sounds incredible and I need to read this!!!
“An unforgettable tale of two friends on their Grand Tour of 18th-century Europe who stumble upon a magical artifact that leads them from Paris to Venice in a dangerous manhunt, fighting pirates, highwaymen, and their feelings for each other along the way.
Henry “Monty” Montague was born and bred to be a gentleman, but he was never one to be tamed. The finest boarding schools in England and the constant disapproval of his father haven’t been able to curb any of his roguish passions—not for gambling halls, late nights spent with a bottle of spirits, or waking up in the arms of women or men.
But as Monty embarks on his grand tour of Europe, his quest for a life filled with pleasure and vice is in danger of coming to an end. Not only does his father expect him to take over the family’s estate upon his return, but Monty is also nursing an impossible crush on his best friend and traveling companion, Percy.
Still it isn’t in Monty’s nature to give up. Even with his younger sister, Felicity, in tow, he vows to make this yearlong escapade one last hedonistic hurrah and flirt with Percy from Paris to Rome. But when one of Monty’s reckless decisions turns their trip abroad into a harrowing manhunt that spans across Europe, it calls into question everything he knows, including his relationship with the boy he adores.
Witty, romantic, and intriguing at every turn, The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue is a sumptuous romp that explores the undeniably fine lines between friendship and love.”
Release Date: June 1st 2017
I will have a review for The Space Between The Stars up in the next couple of days!
“In a breathtakingly vivid and emotionally gripping debut novel, one woman must confront the emptiness in the universe—and in her own heart—when a devastating virus reduces most of humanity to dust and memories.
All Jamie Allenby ever wanted was space. Even though she wasn’t forced to emigrate from Earth, she willingly left the overpopulated, claustrophobic planet. And when a long relationship devolved into silence and suffocating sadness, she found work on a frontier world on the edges of civilization. Then the virus hit…
Now Jamie finds herself dreadfully alone, with all that’s left of the dead. Until a garbled message from Earth gives her hope that someone from her past might still be alive.
Soon Jamie finds other survivors, and their ragtag group will travel through the vast reaches of space, drawn to the promise of a new beginning on Earth. But their dream will pit them against those desperately clinging to the old ways. And Jamie’s own journey home will help her close the distance between who she has become and who she is meant to be…”

That’s it for my most anticipated releases for the month of June and the second half of 2017!
Thank you for reading!
So many that I anticipate as well: Daughter of the Burning City by Amanda Foody is perhaps my number 1 (that cover is awesome!) but also Want, 27 Hours and Bad Romance!

Yes, I’m in love with that cover! The purple is great! The others sound so good as well, I think 27 Hours might be my #1!

So many good books are coming out and I just can’t handle it! I’ve never heard of Want by Cindy Pon before, but now I really want to read it, it sounds so good!

Me neither! My bank account is crying already! Ah I know, when I first discovered it I just knew I had to get it!!

I hadn’t heard of Want either but I just added it to my Goodreads list. I’m also really excited about: The Gentleman’s Guide To Vice and Virtue, Warcross, Wonder Woman, Bad Romance, and 27 Hours.

Yay I’m glad I helped you discover a new book 😉 yesss, all of those sound so brilliant!

I NEED the Gentlemans Guide. It sounds so good and Mackenzie Lee is also super friendly. So extra box ticked there. Whichwood has such a pretty cover. I’m so on the fence about Warbringer because hello Leigh Barduog but I don’t tend to like superhero books very much.

Yay!! Not long now before it comes out! I’ve never read a superhero book so I’m excited to check Leigh’s out and see if I’ll like it!

I’m curious for Marie Lu’s “Warcross” even though I’m torn between finding the cover cool and super ugly 😀
But the blurb sounds interesting and I like reading stories about video games, virtual reality and that stuff, so I might give the book a try some day. I wouldn’t call myself a fan of Marie Lu but I did enjoy her Legend series, so I hope “Warcross” will be just as entertaining.
Btw, I really like the cover for “27 Hours”!

Haha I had the same thoughts but I think I’ve settled on LIKING the Warcross cover 😂
and I’m excited to read it too! Her Legend series is one of my all time favourites! Have you read her The Young Elites trilogy?

The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue was really good! I had no expectations going in, but I ended up loving it. I’m looking forward to 27 Hours as well. I’m also looking forward to All the Crooked Saints, but I’m so scared that it won’t live up to my expectations after The Raven Cycle. 🙈

I’m so glad to hear that you enjoyed it! I can’t wait to read it now! And yes, 27 Hours is one of my MOST anticipated ones! I’ve not read anything by Maggie Stiefvater yet so I’m hoping I’ll like it 😝

Those are some really great books, Jackie! I just opened the Goodreads page for Bad Romance as I think I might have to add it to my TBR too! It sounds really good but also like it might be quite hurtful (in the best way possible for a reader) and I haven’t read anything like it in quite a while!
I am on board with Leigh, Marissa and Maggie! I need those books as soon as possible! I’ve read a bit of Wonder Woman that was published online and I am SO ready for the rest of the book! And with all the hype the Wonder Woman movie has been getting, I’m so excited and hyped myself! Can it be August already???
As for Tahereh Mafi, I’ve only read Shatter Me (and maybe the novella that comes after) and I don’t remember liking it all that much so I’m a bit undecided on whether or not I should get her other books. I’ll be honest, the covers for both Furthermore and Whichwood DEFINITELY make me want to pick those books up! They are STUNNING. Especially Whichwood!

Oh yes, Bad Romance sounds like you’ll be in for a ride! I’m very intrigued by it though because the reviews were very positive so I can’t wait!
Right??? I’ve seen Wonder Woman around EVERYWHERE and I still need to go see the movie! And so many people have received ARCs of it and I’m just like “GIMMEEEE!!!” XD
Aww, sorry you didn’t like Shatter Me that much! I haven’t read her other books yet but I’ve heard wonderful things! And if you’re a fan of her writing then you might like Furthermore!
Thank you! 😇

OMG STOPPPPPP. I’m just getting started on my TBR??? AND NOW I HAVE MORE. Definitely excited for Warcross and all the Bardugo stuff, along with Gentlemen’s Guide (I’ve heard such GREAT things about it!) and Bad Romance and All the Crooked Saints! I really want to start requesting ARCs soon because ALL THESE GLORIOUS BOOKS but 1) I’m not old enough??? But I can lie??? and 2) I need to review more books to get better at it lol. BAD JACKIE!!! ON WORDPRESS DURING CLASS??? (I’m also excited for Renegades too haha.)

AHHH I KNOW I HATE THESE POSTS. Ok maybe I don’t ~hate~ them but my poor TBR can’t handle any more books!
And ahhhhh yay!!! Requesting ARCs is AWESOME (but don’t go overboard because you’ll be stressed and overwhelmed!) Are you considering to try Netgalley for e-ARCs or are you all about the REAL DEAL aka physical ARCs *swoons* 😍
Ohhhh, bad May! You really shouldn’t lie but… the things book lovers to for free books 😂😂
And I suck at reviewing books but do I care??? Nope, not really 🙈

REAL DEAL YO. I honestly need more books. XD
I know… But like there are people who are younger than 18 who I KNOW are requesting for ARCs??? So I’m like, did they lie???
LikeLiked by 1 person
Omg I didn’t know you had to be 18 to request books? Lol I think EVERYONE is cheating here so you should totally go for it! Nobody’s gonna check 😛

Well I think that’s for Netgalley, but not sure if that’s for others. XD
