Welcome to another round of SHAME where I talk to you about all the popular series I haven’t read (yet) and you get to throw sticks and stones (and whatever else you may find) at me!

I have already done a part 1 of this which you can find here! As you can see, I have read the ACOTAR series so at least I crossed one series off that list! Woo!

This time, I’ve decided to look at series that I actually own and see which ones I still need to read!

Let’s just get right into the series because this will be shameful enough *runs*

The Wrath and The Dawn by Renee Ahdieh

 

I knowww, I know… shame on me XD I bought this series last year because of 1) the gorgeous covers and 2) the One Thousand and One Nights retelling. What more could you want??? Yeah, Jackie, WhAt MoRe CoUlD yOu WaNt??????????????

The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken

  

Oh my, there really isn’t a good explanation that excuses why I haven’t read this series yet. The Darkest Minds is literally THE #1 book that has been sitting on my shelf FOR THE LONGEST TIME. Poor book. I can practically hear it screaming at me whenever I look at my book shelf.

I bought it shortly after it came out before I even knew that it was part of a trilogy! A friend of mine kept telling me that it was her favourite book and I wanted to read it as soon as I got it. REALLY! I honestly don’t know what happened but it’s been like 5 years and it’s still unread!

AND DID YOU KNOW that this will be turned into a MOVIE!!!!! They’ve already WRAPPED filming and the cast is soooooo cute!

The Young Elites by Marie Lu

  

I absolutely ADORE Marie Lu’s Legend series – in fact, it’s one of my all time favourites! I’ve been meaning to read The Young Elites for a while and I even own the first book in the series the entire series now (so much for a book buying ban XD). I’m super ashamed that I haven’t read this series yet because Marie Lu is one of my all time favourite authors!!!!!

The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer

   

To be very honest with you, up until a few weeks ago I wasn’t interested in reading the Lunar Chronicles AT ALL. The whole cyborg thing didn’t really spark my interest and I didn’t feel like I’d like this series anyway so I didn’t bother.

But ever since I started book blogging, I’ve seen these books being mentioned everywhere! And apparently they get better and better??? And the romance is great??? I bought the first book because I’ll be buddy reading Cinder with a few of my fellow blogger friends in July which I’m SO EXCITED ABOUT!!!!!! Join our Goodreads group here!

HOW HAVE I NOT READ THIS BOOK YET! I DON’T EVEN KNOW HOW LONG I’VE HAD IT BUT IT’S BEEN A WHILE. But guess what! I’ll be buddy-reading this in July with May and Emma AND I’M SUPER DUPER EXCITEDDDDD ❤

So, that’s it for my Part 2 of Popular Series I’m ashamed I haven’t read yet! I am already remembering SO MANY MORE series that I haven’t read yet! Part 3 anyone? :’D

TRS was too dark (*GASP*) but TMS… *sobs forever (and everly)* The Darkest Minds is something I’m not sure if I’ll read, and I DEFINITELY NEED TO READ THE ROSE AND THE DAGGER! And yaaaaaaas I’m DO EXCITED for our buddy read!!!! ❤ We will either suffer or fangirl together. XD

    1. I KNOWWW BUT I DIDN’T WANT TO MENTION IT (again) because I literally say it all the time XD

      Omg I’m so scared of The Young Elites because YOU, the person who almost never cries, CRIED AT THE LAST BOOK!

      Our buddy read is going to be so much fun! We should probably exclude poor Emma from our emails incase of spoilers and FANGIRL SPAM XD Can’t wait for July 8th ahhh 💜

      2. I will read it at some point this year but I want to read it when I’m STRESS-FREE and that won’t be happening until like August!

        Looks like this book hit you HARD! I don’t even want to know how much I will cry!!! Me being the sensible and emotional soul that I am 😂

  4. I’ve only read one series on here…so I’m in the exact same boat!!! Possibly other buddy reads??? 😉 I really want to read Illuminae and Gemina! I’m also interested in The Young Elite! SO MANY BOOKS! The Darkest Minds is a fantastic series! I read them all SUPER quickly! One minute you’re opening the book…the next you’re freaking out that you need to go and buy the sequel. I think you will enjoy that series!

  6. I was just like you about The Lunar Chronicles series, at first. The whole cyborg thing did not appeal to me in any way, but after hearing and hearing about this series, I couldn’t resist – and I fell in love with it. I didn’t expect to, AT ALL, but it was quite awesome. I hope the same thing will happen to you 🙂

  8. I haven’t read The Lunar Chronicles, The Young Elites, and The Darkest Minds trilogy. It’s okay, we can wallow in shame together. There are probably much more popular series I have yet to read. XD

  10. The only series off this list I have read (and can highly recommend!) is The Lunar Chronicles! It’s fantastic and it most definitely gets better with each book! You should absolutely read it as soon as possible!

    And same about The Young Elites trilogy! I loved Marie Lu’s Legends trilogy and am really excited for Warcross but I haven’t read that trilogy yet… oops!

  13. Illuminae!! Such a great series! (As is the Wrath and the Dawn and the Lunar Chronicles) illuminae is a bit intimidating. They’re huge! But they’re very quick reads. You throw yourself so deep into the story you must read until you’re done!! Enjoy all these when you get to them 🙂

      1. Binge reading is the best way to go with this one! The second book follows different characters but the characters in book 1 come back and it goes deeper into the situation as a whole. Sooo good! I plan to reread these before book 3 comes out. March is so far away 😭

  14. OMG this post made me feel better about my unread series because we are basically twinning. I haven’t read The Darkest Minds yet and the WHOLE series has been sitting on my shelf for two years. Also Illuminae ahhhh need to read that this summmer! Please do a part 3!!!

I’m the same with “The Young Elites.” But after reading an early sample of “Warcross”, I’m listening to “The Young Elites.” I listened to 3 of the Lunar Chronicles and don’t think I’ll finish them; they’re kinda fun, but not quite for me. Cress was the best one for sure. I read about 250 pages of Illuminae and still need to get back it. No shame though girlie; read what you want 🙂

    1. Oooh how was Warcross??? Is there an early sample online? It’s one of my most highly anticipated releases and I’d love to read a sampler of it as well 😍

  17. We’re in this together, Jackie…. Besides TLC I haven’t read any of the others yet and I feel terrible about it T_T Because I really want to! But there’s only so many hours in the day…

  18. I loved Wrath And The Dawn duology, Illuminae and Gemina. They’re all pretty amazing and I hope you get to read them soon. I’ve started Young Elites and The Lunar Chronicles but I haven’t finished them yet but I’m planning to finish them soon. The Darkest Minds didn’t worked out for me because of the slow pacing but I hope you enjoy it.

    1. That’s good to hear! Thank you! 🙂 I need to start both of those series soon, they’ve been on my radar for so long! And thankfully, I only own the first book in the Darkest Minds series so if I happen to dislike it, I won’t have to worry about getting rid of an entire series 😂

      2. I think it’ll be so much fun! And everyone can read the book at their own pace and we will “meet” after 2 weeks to have a small discussion about how we’re liking so far and then at the end of the month there will be a big discussion!!! YAYYY 5 days ❤

  20. Glad to see I’m not the only who hasn’t read these series yet
    – the wrath and the dawn
    – the darkest minds
    – the young elites
    – the lunar chronicles

    The only ones I’ve read are Illuminae & Gemina and okay.. these book are EPIC, FENOMENAL, AWESOME and just perfection!
    I see you’re going to buddy read it this July. Can’t wait to read your review – if you’ll write a review? – and see what you’ll think of these books!
    Hope you enjoy them as much as I did.

    I’m currently working on my own POPULAR SERIES I HAVEN’T READ-article and just like you I think I can divide it in more than 1 article, since I still haven’t read a LOT of popular series, lol.

  24. GAH. *glares* READ READ READ READ ROSE AND THE DAGGER. AND ALSO ALL OF THE OTHER SERIES ON THIS LIST????? *glares harder even though I haven’t read two of the series on the list*

    And YES I AM HAPPY THAT YOU WILL READ CINDER. IT IS GOOD. YOU WILL CRY IN THE THIRD BOOK. (also: buy the rest of the series. because why not. and you will need them right after you finish book one. #protip aren’t I helpful?)

  26. To be honest, I didn’t want to read The Lunar Chronicles either. There was so much hype behind it that it really killed it for me. (I’m such a hipster in this way), but I finally broke down (When I saw it for super cheap on a used book site, as I discussed in another comment on here. :p ) so I picked it up. Cinder actually was pretty good. Not SPECTACULAR. But decent and enough so that I’m interested in reading the next book in the series.

    P.s. I, too, have not gotten around to Illuminae yet. I even just picked up the audiobook from the library, but alas. Too scifi heavy to focus on it at work. Will probably have to wait until I get a physical copy to read this one. *sigh* So many books, not enough time.

    1. I have not yet continued with The Lunar Chronicles but I really enjoyed Cinder even though it was very predictable! Would love to know what you thought of Illuminae if you’ve gotten around to it now!

      1. Oh gosh! I haven’t gotten around to it yet. I attempted it in audiobook format, but it was a bit dense to listen to while doing other work so I switched to something else. :p

  27. The only ones I’ve finished on here are The Wrath & the Dawn and The Lunar Chronicles. I didn’t care for either of them that much.

    I have a copy of Gemina but just haven’t gotten around to reading it. The size of the book is intimating tbh.

    1. Oooh you’re one of the few people who are not super invested in those series, especially TLC! Everyone keeps raving about Cinder etc and I’m quite hesitant because I’m scared to be let down 😅

      Oh yes, the size is also the reason why I haven’t picked up Illuminae yet! It’s just so huge and long!
