June Book Haul // Book Buying Ban? Nope, sorry, never heard of that!

What happened to my book buying ban you ask? *sweats nervously*

We don’t talk about that in this household! 😛

No but seriously, I actually did quite well when it comes to buying (or not buying) books this month! All of the books that will be mentioned here had been ordered before I declared my book buying ban in my VERY HUGE AND VERY FANGIRLY BOOK HAUL — they just hadn’t arrived yet at the time!

I have accumulated 9 books in June which is still okay, I believe! And all of these are books that I’ve wanted FOR AGES so that’s another plus 😉

THE SERIES

AngelfallI have finally decided to buy the physical copies of the first two books in the Angelfall aka Penryn and the End of Days series! I’ve read the first book when I had a free 7-day Kindle Unlimited subscription BUT FOR SOME REASON they only had the third book available for Unlimited users — but not the second?????? Does that make sense to anyone??? No?? Didn’t think so 😛 So obviously I had to purchase them to be able to continue reading! 😛

Okay, who am I kidding… you can CLEARLY see the picture!

The Young Elites series by Marie Lu! I’ve had the first book for quite a while but I never got around to reading it! People keep talking about these books left and right so I just had to buy the rest of the series! I AM HOPING TO BRING THESE BOOKS WITH ME ON VACATION!!!! *fingers crossed*

I see Daughter of the Pirate King EVERYWHERE and it always used to make me so sad because I’ve been anticipating this book for so long but I was too broke to buy it! Then I saw it on my beloved used bookstore website for 10 bucks INSTEAD OF 17 so I knew that this was fate giving me a sign 😛 (also, it’s literally a new book and not used at all lol)

And The Sun Is Also a Star was a very spontaneous buy because I saw it “used” on Amazon (even though it literally looks like it’s never been touched before) FOR THREE BUCKS. HELLO. THREE BUCKS. I COULDN’T NOT BUY IT!!! And the cover is absolutely gorgeous and it’s so much prettier in real life! *heart eyes*

AHHHHHH THESE ARE PROBABLY THE BOOKS THAT I’M MOST EXCITED ABOUT!!!!!!

I am suuuuper lucky to have won Zuky’s 500 follower celebration giveaway! There were literally 900 entries — AND I WON????? *squeals*

I was allowed to get as many books as I wanted up as long as they were £25 — and it took me so long to think of which ones to get! I’ve had 5 books in mind but I just couldn’t decide!

I ended up getting both Queens of Geek and The Upside of Unrequited because they were two of my most highly anticipated releases of the year! And then it came to the third and last book AND I WAS SO TORN BETWEEN SIMON VS, GEEKERELLA AND RADIO SILENCE.

But I ended up going with Radio Silence because I have the Simon Vs Ebook and I’ve already read Geekerella (BUT I WANNA REREAD AGAIN) (shut up Jackie) so I thought I better get a book that I haven’t actually read yet or own!

  2. I seriously have so many of these books on my ‘buy at some point’ list??? Especially World After as I do plan on eventually continuing with that trilogy! But also the Young Elites trilogy because I can’t believe I haven’t read any Marie Lu book after Champion! And I LOVED that trilogy. This makes no sense to myself! xD

    Great haul and I hope you end up loving all of these books! ❤

        BABY STEPS ARE BETTER THAN NO STEPS AT ALL! I’ll let you know when I start the series! Probably not for a while but I really want to bring a series with me on vacation I JUST CAN’T DECIDE WHICH ONEEEEE *sobs*

        It’s a carpet from hell *insert evil laugh* I’M KIDDING. It’s a tiny aka not-so-tiny maybe medium-sized carpet in my room!! Which is in my house. Where I live. With my family 😛

      4. I have the SOC box set!!! But I can’t bring Six of Crows because it’s a hardcover and it’s HUGE and I don’t have that much space in my suitcase 😭 I’ll read it either before or after I go on holidays!!

        YASSSS. Don’t you live with your family??? XD We have dorms in Germany!! But I live like 15-20 minutes from uni so I just need to get on the train and I’m there! I’d rather still live with my parents for now and have them cook for me than waste my money for a dorm room XD

      6. EXACTLY IT’S WAY TOO BIG. I mean I love big books because they’re usually really pretty but it sucks when you don’t have a lot of space when you’re packing for vacation! YUP, AGREED. XD

        Hahaha and YES. I remember when I first started uni I thought I was going to throw up because I didn’t know anyone and I had no idea how UNIVERSITY in general worked and it was so scary! But then you meet new people and you’re all in the same boat and you feel a lot less alone 😂

  10. Awesome Haul! Penryn and the End of Days is my favorite trilogy I hope you enjoy reading it. I loved the Young Elites but I haven’t finished the series yet so I’m planning to finish it before the end of this year. Daughter Of The Pirate King is a great read and totally entertaining! I think you’ll definitely love it.

  11. Gah! Buying books is soooo addicting! I hate seeing the sales on used or overstock book sites because I’m just like: “It’s so cheap! How can I not buy it?!” However, I have decided that unless it’s something I’m ABSOLUTELY DYING TO HAVE, I won’t buy it. I just… can’t afford it right now. Well, my bank account and my not-big-enough bookshelf can’t handle it. :p I could handle more books all the time. Hee hee!

    Have you read Daughter of a Pirate King yet? I’m curious what you thought. 🙂

    1. Again, sorry that I’m replying so late omg… but I get that! I’ve now made it my mission in 2018 to just stop buying books altogether. I own about 100 unread books and unless I’ll make a big dent in that number, no more book purchases for me!

      I don’t know if your question is still relevant 7 months later haha but I very much enjoyed Daughter of the Pirate King! It was super quick to read and very entertaining 🙂

      1. Hahaha! Your opinion on books is always relevant. 🙂 I got the chance to read it, and was not super impressed. But I felt like it was trying just a tad too hard. (But I’m kind of the Queen of Unpopular Opinions. So…. :p )

        And dang! I thought I had a lot of books on my shelf that were unread! Here’s hoping we can both make dents in our TBRs this year! (Though… even as I read books, my TBR keeps getting bigger and I’m not buying any. Some one needs to explain this book multiplication thing to me some day. hahahahaha!)

  16. I LITERALLY READ THE YOUNG ELITES 2 days ago and The Rose Society yesterday AND I LOVED THE FIRST BOOK. The 2nd book = I AM FEELING CONFLICTED. And I’ll probably read the last book on Monday. QUEENS OF GEEK sounds awesome but I heard The Sun Is Also A Star takes place OVER ONE DAY so Idk if I wanna read it? AND THE UPSIDE OF UNREQUITED, I’ve heard fabulous things!

      1. May is SUPER HEARTLESS so this is very…SURPRISING. I’ll make sure to have my tissues at the ready. Hopefully I’m not reading in public BECAUSE THAT WOULD BE AWKWARD.

        Yeah, and it’s a love story taking place over like ONE DAY (i think? I’m starting to doubt my self) so that would mean it’s slow paced which I could get used to BUT it also means INSTA-LOVE, right?

        OMG I hate reading books in public for that exact reason fjdkdknd whenever a sad scenes comes up I’m like NOPE BYE I’LL FINISH THIS AT HOME. WHEN I’M ALONE. IN MY ROOM.

        Oh damn, I really need to do more research before buying books because that COULD mean insta-love and I hatehatehate that. But everyone has said it’s a lot better than Nicola Yoon’s first novel so we’ll see!
