Top Ten Tuesday – Forming a Body out of Book Covers

I KNOW WHAT IT SOUNDS LIKE BUT THIS IS NOT NAUGHTY AT ALL. IT’S ACTUALLY QUITE COOL SO DON’T WORRY XD

Top Ten Tuesday

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. Each week there’s a new book-related topic to answer!

This week’s topic is a Cover Theme Freebie – so it could literally be anything about book covers!

I was very indecisive at first and couldn’t settle on a topic. All I knew is that I really wanted to include the super gorgeous Shatter Me covers and the adorable When Dimple Met Rishi cover AND THEN I HAD AN IDEA!!!!

Why not “form” a whole body with the help of book covers! So my theme for this week’s Top Ten Tuesday is Book Covers featuring Body Parts/Forming a Body out of Book Covers!!!

I know that technically what I’m about to show you is not a whole body but just check it out and see if you’ll like it? *puppy eyes* ❤

THE FACE – or parts of it hehe

We can either go for a beautiful full face and some wonderful pink hair…

…or we could use a super adorable (half-) face and add two gorgeous eyes to make it a full face!

Shatter Me WHEN DIMPLE MET RISHI Ignite Me

THE BODY

We have two options here! Personally, I’d go for a more fierce look and choose Feyre’s kickass black dress!

THE LEGS

Bare legs because we’re wearing a dress…

…and let’s not forget the shoes! We’re going for a fierce look with the dress so red shoes would be a perfect match! And since we have TWO feet, we’ll need two shoes 😉

I had SO MUCH FUN with this post and I hope you will like it as much as me! I mean, it is a pretty simple post but I love the end result and how the “body” turned out!!!

I’m actually quite proud of myself for having thought of this 🙂 It looks so much better seeing it now than it did in my head!

As always, thank you for reading! ❤

What did you think of the topic I chose? Did you like this post? Do you know of any other book covers that have body parts on them? Maybe covers with hands or ears or any body part I have missed so we could add them to this collection! 😀 Let’s chat in the comments!

Top Ten Tuesday: Things That Will Make Me Instantly Want To Read A Book

Top Ten Tuesday

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. Each week there’s a new book-related topic to answer!

This week’s topic is Top Ten Things That Will Make Me Instantly Want To Read A Book – so basically any topic or theme or ANYTHING that will make you instantly want to pick up a book.

  • Character-driven: This is such an important aspect to me when it comes to books! I LOVE knowing a character in depth, knowing all their strengths and flaws, the Ins and Outs, just things that help make the character feel more REAL! I hate when a character is flat, dull, boring UGH it makes me lose interest in a book in 0.02 seconds!!!
  • If someone tells me a character in the story is like Warner or a relationship is like Warnette from Shatter Me… I’M SOLD!!!!!!
WARNER DRINKING
Oh hi there WARNER!!!!
  • Diversity: do I even need to explain this
  • I will most likely read anything by Tahereh Mafi or Leigh Bardugo, I trust both of them with my life!
  • Friendship: Well, not like any friendship because I mean literally EVERY book has friendship in one way or the other but more the powerful bond type of friendship where they go on adventures or missions together and they know that they can rely on each other, they trust each other and you know, they’re trying to make it through difficult situations TOGETHER! I HOPE YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN I DON’T KNOW ANY OTHER WAY TO EXPLAIN IT!!!!! (I believe the friendship that I am describing here is like the one in Six of Crows??? Again, I haven’t read it yet but I get the impression IT’S THAT KIND OF FRIENDSHIP!!!!! THE ONE THAT I LOVE SO MUCH!!!! Also Kenji and Juliette’s friendship in Shatter Me, PLEASE IT’S THE BEST! Or the Harry Potter friendships! Or the group in the Grisha trilogy; Alina, Nikolai, Zoya, Genya, the lot!!!)

  • This kind of has to do with friendship but I really like if there is a strong sibling relationship in a book! Like when you can tell that they really love and care for each other and would do anything for the other! (I don’t mean to make everything about Shatter Me (lol or DO I?!) but something that Adam and James have (I can’t stand Adam but his little brother is his #1 and I admire that) or one of my recent reads that features that is Caraval with Scarlett and Tella! Or Katniss and Prim. Alec and Isabelle. You know it.)
  • If a book is about a prince or a prince is involved somehow. It doesn’t even have to be your typical Prince Charming but there’s just something about princes that I love! Oh, and even better if said prince is similar to Nikolai Lantsov. Or generally, if someone tells me a character has similar traits like him! That boy has my heart ❤
  • Poetic/Lyrical writing: (this is the last time I’ll mention it I PROMISE) I adore Tahereh’s writing in Shatter Me! I know that it’s not for everyone but I think it’s incredible and it hits me in all the right places! I was also a big fan of the writing in Caraval! BUT the poetic writing has to be good, sometimes it’s just too over the top or dramatic and it annoys meeee!
  • If PeruseProject recommends it! She’s probably the only Booktuber I don’t have ANY problems with! She’s just so likeable and I believe she has a great taste in books!

  • Tropes I’m a fan of: enemies-to-lovers, fake-dating (mostly in fics, I don’t think I’ve ever read a fake-dating book!), THE NERDY/GEEKY TROPE (I’ve been really loving it recently especially in Geekerella! Quick shoutout to Mandy for the super adorable and nerdy recs <3)

Honorable Mention (or my #11): This is not a necessity but if a book has 4+ stars on Goodreads I am more likely to read it or at least add it to my TBR! I mean, I don’t really care about the opinions of others because I’d always like to form my own (well, I kind of do care… sometimes… but…. you know what I mean) but it’s like OH, this is cool! It must be a good book if it has such a good rating!

That’s it for my Top 10 Things that will make me instantly want to read a book! Can we say Book Turn-Ons? Is that a thing? Well, I just made it a thing 😛

Top 5 Wednesday: Favourite Angsty Romances

T5WIt’s Wednesday! And that means it’s time for Top 5 Wednesday! T5W is a weekly book meme hosted by Samantha from Thoughts on Tomes and Lainey from Ginger Reads Lainey. If you’re new to Top 5 Wednesday and want to participate, check out the Goodreads group for information and weekly topics!

This week’s topic is Favorite Angsty Romances!

definition: “angst” adj.: describes a situation or literary piece which contains dark, depressing, angry, and/or brooding emotions from the participating characters

*note: these are in no particular order (except maybe the first two)*

  1. Juliette and Warner from the Shatter Me series by Tahereh Mafi

Alright, so if you really know me then you KNOW that Tahereh Mafi’s Shatter Me series is my favourite series in the entire world and I would quite literally die for Warner! And if you’ve read the series you might agree with me that these books are full of angst, especially Ignite Me. I’ve only just re-read this series at the beginning of this year but god, just thinking about it makes me want to re-read it all over again! The relationship between Warner and Juliette is unlike anything I’ve ever read. Their romance is definitely full of angst, despair, frustration, love, strength, power, they’ve got it all. 10/10 would recommend 😉

  1. June and Day from the Legend series by Marie Lu

I almost didn’t remember this series because they’re not on my shelf since I got them from the library! I read these a long time ago but I remember feeling a lot of angst while reading these. June and Day are two teens in love who can’t be together at the end of book 2 due to certain circumstances that I can’t mention because I don’t want to spoil anything *winks*. Anyway, in the third book you experience a lot of angst between these two! There’s a lot of fighting, action, love, loss and pain. I really loved this series and the romance between these two. Very angsty, very emotional. (Damn, I really want to reread this series now!)

  1. Allie and Noah from The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks

The NotebookWe all know Allie and Noah’s love story. If you haven’t read the book then you’ve probably seen the movie at least once (or ten times) and cried all the way through. This book/movie does not quite match my own definition of angst but I’d say it definitely has an angsty touch. I don’t think I need to explain, you guys know all the scenes! Just take a look at the rain scene or the “What do you want?” scene!

  1. Lou and Will from Me Before You by Jojo Moyes

Me Before YouAlright, I don’t think I need to explain this one either, right? I’ve seen the hype around Me Before You for years! I’ve only read the book last year shortly before the movie came out and I totally fell in love with it. Sure, there are some issues and I know that some people don’t like this book that much but I think it’s a great book. Will and Lou definitely have an angsty relationship and it was both heartbreaking and beautiful. I really enjoyed the movie, too, but I might have been influenced by Sam Claflin. He is just a gorgeous human being, isn’t he?

  1. Adam and Mia from Where She Went (If I Stay #2) by Gayle Forman

Where She WentWhere She Went is the sequel to If I Stay. While I didn’t like If I Stay as much as I expected to (it just didn’t live up to the hype!), I adored Where She Went! I thought it was so much better than the first book! It takes place 3 years later and is told from Adam’s point of view; Adam and Mia are broken up, they’re older and more mature, and they meet again and inevitably have to revisit the past. And I just remember feeling so much angst while reading this book! Gayle Forman’s writing was so incredible and fitting, she really knew how to pull at my heart strings and pull the angst out of my chest!

Honorable Mention:

  1. Will and Layken from Slammed by Colleen Hoover

Slammed.jpg

This is the first (and so far only) CoHo book I’ve read and I have to say I really enjoyed it! I read it last year and to be honest, I don’t quite remember much of it *oops*. I gave this book 5 stars on Goodreads though, so it must have been good, haha! All I know is that I really liked the romance between Will and Layken. It was your typical angsty, teenage love story, sometimes a tiny bit too cheesy and dramatic for my liking, but it tugged at my heart and had an angsty feel to it. I definitely have to re-read this some day!

That’s it for my Top 5 Favourite Angsty Romances for now! I know there’s loads of other angsty romances out there and I have a lot of the books on my TBR so I hope I’ll get to them soon and maybe do a part 2?!

Also, I know I’ve been very vague when talking about these relationships but I didn’t want to spoil anything!

Thanks for reading,

Jackie x
