This week’s topic is Authors You Want to Read More FromTalk about some authors that you’ve only read one or a few books from, and you NEED to read more!
Becky AlbertalliBecky Albertalli

I’ve been following Becky on Twitter for a long time and it just made me adore her as a person! Recently, I’ve started reading Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda (and I still haven’t finished oops I’m sorry, don’t scream at me!!!) and completely fell in love with it and Becky’s writing! I feel like she is the MASTER of writing incredible, diverse, YA contemporary novels! Her new novel The Upside of Unrequited is supposed to be SOOOO GOOD, too! I can’t wait to get my hands on it! I hope she writes many more novels because I want to read them all!

Angie Thomas

Her debut novel The Hate U Give has gotten so much (well-deserved) hype and attention! She is talking about very relevant issues in that book and I need EVERYONE to read it! She is also so inspiring and genuine! I really hope she’ll be working on more projects in the future because I would totally read more from her!

Stephanie GarberStephanie Garber

Caraval was her debut novel and one of my favourite releases of this year! I fell in love with her writing and the world she built and I can’t wait for the sequel and (hopefully) other future projects!

Ashley Poston

I’ve only recently discovered Ashley Poston after reading Geekerella which was one of the most adorable books I’ve ever read and one of my favourite books of 2017!!! She is a true nerd/fangirl herself and so relatable and I NEED to read more from her!!! She is coming out with a new YA Sci-Fi novel in 2018 called Heart of Iron and apparently it’s an Anastasia meets Firefly kind of book AND I NEED IT RIGHT NOW!!! GIMMEEEE!!!

Sandhya Menon

Her debut novel When Dimple Met Rishi is coming out at the end of May and I already know I’m going to LOVE IT! She is also coming out with another YA Contemporary novel in 2018 which is also going to be about an Indian-American girl! I truly cannot wait to read her books! She also seems like such a genuine and sweet person!

That’s it for my T5W picks! Thanks for reading!

Top Ten Tuesday: Ten Authors I’d Love To Meet

Top Ten TuesdayTop Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. Each week there’s a new book-related topic to answer!

This week’s topic is Top Ten Authors I’d Love To Meet!

*note: these are in no particular order except for my #1 obviously*

Tahereh MafiJ.K. Rowling

Jane AustenRainbow RowellBecky Albertalli

  1. Tahereh Mafi

God, I just really need to meet Tahereh and sit down with her in a place that is open 24/7 (so we’d have ALL DAY to talk!) and I need her to answer all of my questions regarding the love of my life; Aaron Warner. And just the Shatter Me series in general. Like, I STILL HAVE SO MANY QUESTIONS!!!

  1. J. K. Rowling

This one is quite obvious and doesn’t need further explaining.

  1. Jane Austen

I’d have loved to meet Jane Austen if she was still alive! Or I’d just travel back in time to meet her if I could! I haven’t read many of her books but she is one of my favourite authors. She’s so witty and humorous and I bet it’d be loads of fun to spend a day with her!

  1. Rainbow Rowell

Ok, first of all, how cool is it that her first name is literally Rainbow! So unique! I love her writing and enjoy reading her books and I’d just like to tell her how great she is!

  1. Becky Albertalli

I haven’t read any of her books yet but I follow her on Twitter and I love her! She’s so cute and I just love reading her tweets. Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda is currently being made into a movie and we could chill on set and stalk Nick Robinson 😉

Stephanie GarberMarie LuLeigh Bardugo

Stephenie MeyerWalt Disney

  1. Stephanie Garber

I truly loved her debut novel Caraval, I can already say that it’s one of my favourite releases this year! Her writing is incredible and I need her to teach me how she does it! Also, I need to squeeze every bit of information about book 2 out of her!!!

  1. Marie Lu

I think Marie Lu is so sweet and kind and she seems so genuine! I’d love to chat with her about books and stuff. Please, tell me more about June and Day!

  1. Leigh Bardugo

Leigh Bardugo has easily become another one of my all time favourite authors! I truly enjoyed the Grisha trilogy and I don’t even have to read the Six of Crows duology to know just how incredible it is. And I really NEED to talk to her about Nikolai and ask all kinds of questions that I have about him! Oh, and make her write a 1000+ page novel about him, please and thank you 😀

  1. Stephenie Meyer

All I want to do is thank her for introducing me to YA! Twilight was pretty much my first contact with the YA genre and it opened this huge door for me! Bless her.

  1. Walt Disney

Last, but not least, Walt Disney! I know that, technically, he isn’t an author but I’d have loved to meet him and look into his mind and, like, observe the process of him coming up with the characters that we’ve all come to love today!

Honorable Mentions: Alice Oseman (she seems so sweet on Twitter!), Ransom Riggs (I adore him and Tahereh!), Angie Thomas (she’s just incredible)

So that’s it for my Top Ten Tuesday! I hope you enjoyed it and I can’t wait to read everyone else’s posts!

February Wrap-Up

Well, this month has been very sparse when it comes to books if I do say so myself. I have only managed to read 4 (ok, let’s be honest, 3 and a half) books in the month of February but that wasn’t my fault! I’ve been writing all my exams in the first 3 weeks of the month so I only really had time to read in the past week and a half. But I’ll do better in March and hopefully tackle my huge TBR list! I will have reviews for all of these up soon so keep an eye out!

Anyway, here’s my February Wrap-Up:

Everything, Everything by Nicola Yoon

everything-everythingGoodreads: “My disease is as rare as it is famous. Basically, I’m allergic to the world. I don’t leave my house, have not left my house in seventeen years. The only people I ever see are my mom and my nurse, Carla.

But then one day, a moving truck arrives next door. I look out my window, and I see him. He’s tall, lean and wearing all black—black T-shirt, black jeans, black sneakers, and a black knit cap that covers his hair completely. He catches me looking and stares at me. I stare right back. His name is Olly.

Maybe we can’t predict the future, but we can predict some things. For example, I am certainly going to fall in love with Olly. It’s almost certainly going to be a disaster.”

(A review of Everything Everything will be up soon!)

Shadow and Bone (The Grisha #1) by Leigh Bardugo

Goodreads: “Surrounded by enemies, the once-great nation of Ravka has been torn in two by the Shadow Fold, a swath of near impenetrable darkness crawling with monsters who feast on human flesh. Now its fate may rest on the shoulders of one lonely refugee.shadow-and-bone-cover

Alina Starkov has never been good at anything. But when her regiment is attacked on the Fold and her best friend is brutally injured, Alina reveals a dormant power that saves his life—a power that could be the key to setting her war-ravaged country free. Wrenched from everything she knows, Alina is whisked away to the royal court to be trained as a member of the Grisha, the magical elite led by the mysterious Darkling.

Yet nothing in this lavish world is what it seems. With darkness looming and an entire kingdom depending on her untamed power, Alina will have to confront the secrets of the Grisha . . . and the secrets of her heart.

Shadow and Bone is the first installment in Leigh Bardugo’s Grisha Trilogy.”

(A review of Shadow and Bone is up on my blog!)

Caraval by Stephanie Garber

caravalGoodreads: Whatever you’ve heard about Caraval, it doesn’t compare to the reality. It’s more than just a game or a performance. It’s the closest you’ll ever find to magic in this world . . .

Welcome, welcome to Caraval―Stephanie Garber’s sweeping tale of two sisters who escape their ruthless father when they enter the dangerous intrigue of a legendary game.

Scarlett has never left the tiny island where she and her beloved sister, Tella, live with their powerful, and cruel, father. Now Scarlett’s father has arranged a marriage for her, and Scarlett thinks her dreams of seeing Caraval, the far-away, once-a-year performance where the audience participates in the show, are over.

But this year, Scarlett’s long-dreamt of invitation finally arrives. With the help of a mysterious sailor, Tella whisks Scarlett away to the show. Only, as soon as they arrive, Tella is kidnapped by Caraval’s mastermind organizer, Legend. It turns out that this season’s Caraval revolves around Tella, and whoever finds her first is the winner.

Scarlett has been told that everything that happens during Caraval is only an elaborate performance. But she nevertheless becomes enmeshed in a game of love, heartbreak, and magic with the other players in the game. And whether Caraval is real or not, she must find Tella before the five nights of the game are over, a dangerous domino effect of consequences is set off, and her sister disappears forever.”

(A review for Caraval will be up soon!)

Siege and Storm (The Grisha #2) by Leigh Bardugo

Goodreads: Darkness never dies.siege-and-storm

Hunted across the True Sea, haunted by the lives she took on the Fold, Alina must try to make a life with Mal in an unfamiliar land. She finds starting new is not easy while keeping her identity as the Sun Summoner a secret. She can’t outrun her past or her destiny for long.

The Darkling has emerged from the Shadow Fold with a terrifying new power and a dangerous plan that will test the very boundaries of the natural world. With the help of a notorious privateer, Alina returns to the country she abandoned, determined to fight the forces gathering against Ravka. But as her power grows, Alina slips deeper into the Darkling’s game of forbidden magic, and farther away from Mal. Somehow, she will have to choose between her country, her power, and the love she always thought would guide her–or risk losing everything to the oncoming storm.“

(Technically, I’ve finished this book in March but I’d still like to mention it in my February Wrap-Up 😉 You can find my review for Siege and Storm here!)
