February Recap // A successful reading month, actual (!) update on my WRITING, first ever physical ARC and RESTORE ME RELEASE!!!

Do you ever get that wholesome feeling after finishing a Wrap Up post when you realise how successful your month has been?

Because that’s how I’m feeling right now.

I feel so at ease because not only did I manage to read amazing books this month, but I also took care of my mental health and did a lot of things I enjoy but have neglected over the last few months (eg. WRITING!!!) and it feels so GOOD.

And as you can tell by the title of this post, I have some very exciting things to share with you guys!!!! Ahhh!!!

Thanks for being awesome @ February.

2018 Goals // Keep Up with my TBR, Work on my WIP, Self-Care (!!!) and tracking my Habits

Have you ever set yourself New Year’s Resolutions and abandonded them two weeks into the new year?

Yeah. I think we can all relate.

I planned to do a 2018 goals post at the very beginning of the year so I could easily go back to it and hold myself accountable for actually keeping up with them.

As you can probably tell, I already failed that task.

I planned to abandon this post altogether because it seemed pretty pointless to post it when we’re already two months into the year. However, it is NEVER too late to set yourself some goals for the year so here I am.

you may have seen Swetlana’s post from last week about her 2018 reading goals which PROVES that it’s not too late!

Let’s hope I’ll actually stick to these goals instead of abandoning them like I do every year.

January Recap // my life is One Big Mess, it’s #20GayTeen and I’m back from my hiatus I think?? (also RESTORE ME!!!)

Hey what’s up, it’s been a while! [whenever I say this I’ve got Zayn’s song in my head but I don’t think anyone here gets the reference]

Well, as the title of this post suggests, I am back from the dead (again).

I was literally so motivated to start posting again when I wrote my December Recap, but then life happened and hit me in the face like a brick, and I wasn’t READY to have all these responsibilities thrown at me out of NOWhERe.

me trying to dodge school work, exams, blogging, writing, nervous breakdowns, panic, stress, anxiety and anything else that was trying to get my attention in January

My recap ended up being the only post I wrote in January dkhgdk I’M SORRY.

I’m not one to constantly abandon my blog, go on random unannounced hiatuses and post inconsistently, but it has been happening a lot lately AND I HATE IT.

I desperately hope think that I finally regained my blogging mojo though and I’m excited to see what February brings I MEAN IT’S THE MONTH OF LOVE AFTER ALL *yuck*

For now, please enjoy reading about my 5 nervous breakdowns :)))))

November Recap // not much reading, even less writing and a huge existential crisis + MY FAV AUTHOR TWEETED ME???

What is reading??? What is writing??? What is blogging??? What is life???

What. Even. Was. November.

I don’t think I’ve ever had such a bad reading month. In the first 3 weeks of November, I didn’t even pick up a single book for myself aka I only forced myself through the four tragic/average/trashy/boring books I had to read for uni.

My poor bookshelves were wailing for my attention, begging me to PLEASE JUST PICK OUT A SINGLE BOOK TO READ WE MISS YOU

But my brain was like NUH-UH you’re doing NaNo, you have to focus on WRITING.

Well, guess who didn’t do any writing either?????? Me.

can i take a nap for the next two months pls

Things got better at the end of the month BUT I’M STILL IN THIS WEIRD FUNK WHERE EVERYTHING I DO IS EXHAUSTING.

I don’t want to make my intro too depressing, but be prepared for an enourmous existentital crisis including lots of crying, exhaustion, flailing of arms and MAYBE a handful of good things that happened to me.

PS. HOW IS IT DECEMBER ALREADY IT’S BASICALLY CHRISTMAS AKA 2018 AKA CAN WE NOT IT’S GIVING ME ANXIETY

The End of the Year Book Tag // lots of Shatter Me and Tahereh Mafi feat. other books which aren’t thAt important (just kidding)

Do y’all know the feeling of not being able to keep up with your endless list of pending tags and if you try to keep up, you simply don’t know which of the many awesome tags to choose???

That’s cool BECAUSE I DON’T.

I’m the kind of person to choose to do a tag THAT I WASN’T EVEN TAGGED IN.

Because I love having a loooooong list of pending tags! And I love how the list just looms over me! And how the pages in my blog journal are haunting and taunting me everytime I open it! Clearly I must love myself!

You can tell how lazy and just overall incompetent I am when it comes to managing things and maintaining order in my life, right???

I am in complete control of my life!!!! #sarcasm

Fall Reading Guide aka my Fall Book Recommendations and somewhat of a TBR (even though I don’t do TBRs)

Are you looking for your next perfect Fall read? WELL, LOOK NOT FURTHER BECAUSE I’M HERE TO PROVIDE YOU WITH SOME FANTASTIC FALL READING RECOMMENDATIONS.

This post will include a mix of books that I’ve read and enjoyed and that I feel like fit perfectly into the Fall season because they give off autumnal vibes! I will also mention a few books that I haven’t actually read and (possibly) plan to read around the Fall season!

it’s not really the first day but it’s AUTUMN AKA THE BEST SEASON

I have a huge physical pile of (unread) Fall-ish books that I’ve put on my nighstand which is literally about to topple over and suffocate me in my sleep—IT’S THAT HUGE. I wouldn’t necessarily call this pile my Fall TBR, but rather books on my never-ending, about-to-murder-me TBR that give me Fall feels and that I can see myself reading this season!

I like giving myself options of books to choose from instead of trying (the emphasis lies on TRYING here) to read all the books I’ve put on a monthly TBR list.

Please enjoy my way-too-long list of Fall reading recommendations and my Fall TBR (even though it’s not really a TBR!!!).

Most Anticipated Book Releases – June + second half of 2017 (TTT crossover)

I’ve been meaning to do a Most Anticipated June Releases post but then I realised that this week’s Top Ten Tuesday topic had to do with new releases as well so I thought I’d bring the two together!

This week’s TTT topic is Top Ten Most Anticipated Books For The Second Half of 2017!

Top Ten Tuesday

First, I will be sharing with you the books that are being released in June that I’m most excited about!

Want by Cindy Pon

Release Date: June 13th 2017

THIS BOOK HAS AN ASIAN MC AND HE HAS A GROUP OF (DIVERSE) FRIENDS/MISFITS AND THEY PLAN TO TAKE DOWN SOME BIG BAD GUY BUT THE MC FALLS IN LOVE WITH THE DAUGHTER OF THE BIG BAD GUYS AND APPARENTLY IT IS “DRIPPING IN DIVERSITY AND DELICIOUS ROMANCE” (according to this review) AND I CAN’T WAIT TO READ IT!!!

“From critically acclaimed author Cindy Pon comes an edge-of-your-seat sci-fi thriller, set in a near-future Taipei plagued by pollution, about a group of teens who risk everything to save their city.

Jason Zhou survives in a divided society where the elite use their wealth to buy longer lives. The rich wear special suits, protecting them from the pollution and viruses that plague the city, while those without suffer illness and early deaths. Frustrated by his city’s corruption and still grieving the loss of his mother who died as a result of it, Zhou is determined to change things, no matter the cost.

With the help of his friends, Zhou infiltrates the lives of the wealthy in hopes of destroying the international Jin Corporation from within. Jin Corp not only manufactures the special suits the rich rely on, but they may also be manufacturing the pollution that makes them necessary.

Yet the deeper Zhou delves into this new world of excess and wealth, the more muddled his plans become. And against his better judgment, Zhou finds himself falling for Daiyu, the daughter of Jin Corp’s CEO. Can Zhou save his city without compromising who he is, or destroying his own heart?”

Bad Romance by Heather Demetrios

Release Date: June 13th 2017

“Unapologetic, real, unabashedly honest, Bad Romance is probably the best break-up story I have ever read.” Apparently, this is a very heavy, tough book with themes such as suicide, emotional/physical abuse (trigger warning!) that make you think and feel. But at the same time “Heather Demetrios never lets you feel like this book is a black hole of despair. And that’s probably what kept me turning the pages until way past my bedtime.” From the reviews I’ve seen on Goodreads, this will be an incredibly eye-opening, honest and emotional book and I can’t wait for it to come out.

*click on the quotes to be directed to their source*

“Grace wants out. Out of her house, where her stepfather wields fear like a weapon and her mother makes her scrub imaginary dirt off the floors. Out of her California town, too small to contain her big city dreams. Out of her life, and into the role of Parisian artist, New York director—anything but scared and alone.

Enter Gavin: charming, talented, adored. Controlling. Dangerous. When Grace and Gavin fall in love, Grace is sure it’s too good to be true. She has no idea their relationship will become a prison she’s unable to escape.

Deeply affecting and unflinchingly honest, this is a story about spiraling into darkness—and emerging into the light again.”

The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue by Mackenzi Lee

Release Date: June 27th 2017

I’ve seen ARCs of this book around EVERYWHERE  and I don’t know anything about it but the synopsis sounds incredible and I need to read this!!!

“An unforgettable tale of two friends on their Grand Tour of 18th-century Europe who stumble upon a magical artifact that leads them from Paris to Venice in a dangerous manhunt, fighting pirates, highwaymen, and their feelings for each other along the way.

Henry “Monty” Montague was born and bred to be a gentleman, but he was never one to be tamed. The finest boarding schools in England and the constant disapproval of his father haven’t been able to curb any of his roguish passions—not for gambling halls, late nights spent with a bottle of spirits, or waking up in the arms of women or men.

But as Monty embarks on his grand tour of Europe, his quest for a life filled with pleasure and vice is in danger of coming to an end. Not only does his father expect him to take over the family’s estate upon his return, but Monty is also nursing an impossible crush on his best friend and traveling companion, Percy.

Still it isn’t in Monty’s nature to give up. Even with his younger sister, Felicity, in tow, he vows to make this yearlong escapade one last hedonistic hurrah and flirt with Percy from Paris to Rome. But when one of Monty’s reckless decisions turns their trip abroad into a harrowing manhunt that spans across Europe, it calls into question everything he knows, including his relationship with the boy he adores.

Witty, romantic, and intriguing at every turn, The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue is a sumptuous romp that explores the undeniably fine lines between friendship and love.”

The Space Between the Stars by Anne Corlett

Release Date: June 1st 2017

I will have a review for The Space Between The Stars up in the next couple of days!

“In a breathtakingly vivid and emotionally gripping debut novel, one woman must confront the emptiness in the universe—and in her own heart—when a devastating virus reduces most of humanity to dust and memories.

All Jamie Allenby ever wanted was space. Even though she wasn’t forced to emigrate from Earth, she willingly left the overpopulated, claustrophobic planet. And when a long relationship devolved into silence and suffocating sadness, she found work on a frontier world on the edges of civilization. Then the virus hit…

Now Jamie finds herself dreadfully alone, with all that’s left of the dead. Until a garbled message from Earth gives her hope that someone from her past might still be alive.

Soon Jamie finds other survivors, and their ragtag group will travel through the vast reaches of space, drawn to the promise of a new beginning on Earth. But their dream will pit them against those desperately clinging to the old ways. And Jamie’s own journey home will help her close the distance between who she has become and who she is meant to be…”

Welcome back to another Fierce Fangirl Friday hosted by yours truly 😉

As you might know (if you’ve read my Top 5 Wednesday post), I went to a Little Mix concert last night!!! 😍

It’s already like 6pm and actually, I meant to write this post when I came back from the concert last night but I was so tired and exhausted and hungry and I physically couldn’t bring myself to write it.

And I told myself to write it first thing in the morning but my friend texted me at like 11:50 talking about an assignment that was due at NOON and I was so freakin’ stressed out!!!! I literally pulled the assignment out of my ass and submitted it like 3 hours later and I am PRAYING that I won’t get killed or like kicked out of the class or something LOL.

BUT YEAH. TIME TO FANGIRL!!!

omg how precious do the girls look!!!

I’ve been a fan of Little Mix ever since they were those sweet and innocent souls on X-Factor UK and they’ve turned into these stunning, fierce and confident ladies that make me feel so empowered and strong #WHOGOTTHEPOWER and I’m in love with them!

I’ve seen the girls for the first time last year and me and my sister were SOOOOOO close to the front and it genuinely was one of the best days of my life.

This year, we decided not to go to the venue too early because we were #lazy and #tired but we ended up getting pretty good seats anyway! (It was all GA I guess that’s how y’all call it in America? But you could basically choose if and where you wanted to sit or stand which was really cool!)

Unfortunately, WordPress doesn’t allow me to upload videos SO I CAN’T SHOW YOU THE FANTASTIC QUALITY OF MY BELOVED CAMERA (it literally saves my life at every concert, the quality is just ON POINT) but let me show y’all some pictures one (1) picture! (They’re such high quality they take ages to upload/save/share so here’s ONE lol but YOU CAN IMAGINE WHAT MY VIDEOS LOOK LIKE FROM THIS PHOTO QUALITY RIGHT??????

Little Mix

If you follow me on Twitter, you can see my Snapchat story from the concert which I’ve just uploaded!

But it was such a fabulous show (not as good as the one last year but still great) and the girls are SO funny and cute and sassy and fierce – ohmigosh how fitting…*Fierce* Fangirl Friday!!!

OH. ALSO…

The Vamps were the support act which was really cool! I proper fancy Brad Simpson aka the lead singer/front man *heart eyes* and after seeing him in concert… well, let’s just say my love for him has grown even more!

He’s such a charming fella and he was so CUTE when he was talking to the crowd and then he got really into it while performing and he was so passionate and a rock star and I was shooketh.

Brad

#loveyoubrad

YAY!

My fangirling this week wasn’t AS extreme as last week when I talked about the new Shatter Me books but that doesn’t mean I wasn’t equally as happy and excited about this concert! I guess I’m just spent and exhausted and I need a day to catch up on sleep and everything.

I totally used this Gif for Mandy 😛

PS. This morning I also ordered tickets to see Banks and I am SO HAPPY!!!!!! I’ve been a fan of her for so long and I’ve never seen her live before but now I will! And the show is a day after my birthday, how cool!

You should totaly go and see her if you can!!!!!

PPS. DID YOU SEE THE COVER REVEAL FOR WHICHWOOD AKA QUEEN TAHEREH MAFI’S COMPANION NOVEL TO FURTHERMORE BECAUSE MY EYES HAVE BEEN BLESSED. SEE FOR YOURSELVES:

B E A U T I F U L

PPPS. I still haven’t checked out the whole linky thing because I’m #lazy but what I’ll do is link up everyone’s posts by hand in a sort of recap thingy!

So, here’s a recap from last week’s Fierce Fangirl Friday:

  • I will add the posts in a minute lol I’m #lazy

(I hope I haven’t missed anyone?)

That’s it for my fangirl antics this week. I hope you enjoyed and feel free to join in next week! I love reading everyone’s fangirl-y posts!!!

Thank you for reading!

Do you like Little Mix? Have you ever seen them live? What did you fangirl about this week? Let’s chat in the comments!
