2018 Goals // Keep Up with my TBR, Work on my WIP, Self-Care (!!!) and tracking my Habits

Have you ever set yourself New Year’s Resolutions and abandonded them two weeks into the new year?

Yeah. I think we can all relate.

I planned to do a 2018 goals post at the very beginning of the year so I could easily go back to it and hold myself accountable for actually keeping up with them.

As you can probably tell, I already failed that task.

I planned to abandon this post altogether because it seemed pretty pointless to post it when we’re already two months into the year. However, it is NEVER too late to set yourself some goals for the year so here I am.

you may have seen Swetlana’s post from last week about her 2018 reading goals which PROVES that it’s not too late!

Let’s hope I’ll actually stick to these goals instead of abandoning them like I do every year.

RANT REVIEW: Snowsisters by Tom Wilinsky and Jen Sternick // a pointless story, transphobic trash and one-dimensional characters

I have bad news.

I wish my first review of the year was a positive one, but this book was just.. very disappointing. And it made me extremely uncomfortable.

Spoiler alert: this is a 1 star book.

I honestly don’t give out 1 or 2 star ratings often because I’m simply too nice lol but after writing this sort of very RANTY review, I realised that there is nothing good about this book and I gave it 1 lonely star.

Obviously, this review is going to include spoilers of the book, but I honestly wouldn’t recommend any of y’all to read it anyway so I think you’ll be fine 😛

2017 Wrap Up // Best and Worst + Most Suprising and Disappointing Books of 2017 and everything in between!

Well, well, well. Guess who’s back from the dead her unannounced hiatus.

IT’S YA GIRL JACKIE (in case you forgot my name lmao) aka the one who takes a month to reply to comments and almost never blog hops anymore because she’s trash life gets in the way. But what’s new *shrugs*

I actually planned to go on a 2-week long hiatus between Christmas and now, and I planned to have at least two more posts up before I did that and actually announce the hiatus but….. you know….

THE STRUGGLES OF BEING #LAZY AND #DEMOTIVATED.

But I’m back now (at least for a week or two?) before I go on another hiatus because I’ll be in study hell I mean– okay no I really mean STUDY HELL.

Before I do that though, I wanted to take a look at the year 2017. I honestly can’t believe how FAST it went by—I swear, this was one of the quickest years EVER and while I have accomplished and done some incredible things, I still feel that overall it was pretty meh and I could have done MORE.

However, my 2017 from a bookish perspective was fantastic and it was THE BEST reading year I’ve had so far???? I’m SOOOO excited to go through my Goodreads shelves and see which books I loved and hated most this year AHHHH.

The Big F by Maggie Ann Martin // Very fun and uplifting summer read! + Giveaway

Oh, hi there! Guess who’s back with another blog tour? *points at self* THIS GIRRRLLL.

Welcome to my stop of the The Big F blog tour hosted by Xpresso Book Tours! Today, I’ll be sharing my review and the tour-wide giveaway with you!

Coincidentally, I seem to have been a part of many blog tours which promoted books from Swoon Reads (such as this one hehe) and I’ve always had luck with their books thus far! They always have such fun and relatable contemporaries that I find very easy to read—and The Big F was no different!

Keep on reading if you’d like to know why I loved reading this book!

PS. You can follow the rest of the tour here!

Welcome to my stop at the Just Friends blog tour hosted by Xpresso Book Tours!

I am here to share my review with you (I tried and succeeded in keeping it quite short!) and there will also be a giveaway at the end of this post!

If you’re into easy-to-read contemporaries and the fake-friendship (no fake dating trope i’m sorry. but tbh i’m kinda disappointed too) and pining-for-each-other tropes, this might just be the book for you!

You can follow the rest of the tour here.

ARC August TBR // let’s tackle those ARCs we’ve been avoiding!!

Oh looooook, I found a super cool challenge to participate in next month!

I’m so happy that I stumbled across the #ARCAugust hashtag on Twitter because I’ve been needing some motivation to get through some of my Netgalley ARCs that I’ve been meaning to read since March!

My current Netgalley ratio is 75% WHICH IS AWESOME and the highest it’s ever been!!! But I’ve never actually reached that precious 80% so that’s what I’ll be attempting to do in August!

I currently have 8 ARCs left to read on Netgalley. While I don’t plan to read ALL of them next month, I want to get through a good chunk of them!

I’ve also received some ARCs from authors or for blog tours which need to be reviewed this month so I’m quite determined!

You can still sign-up for the ARC August challenge here! Continue reading “ARC August TBR // let’s tackle those ARCs we’ve been avoiding!!”

SOME VERY EXCITING BOOK MAIL AKA I NEED TO FANGIRL!!! // oh, i WONDER what this WOMAN is talking about?

OH HI, DID YOU MISS ME?

I’m back with another Fierce Fangirl Friday post!

Originally, I had a completely different post planned for today but there’s been a CHANGE OF PLANS BECAUSE I RECEIVED SOME SUPER EXCITING BOOK MAIL YESTERDAY AND I NEED TO TALK SCREAM ABOUT IT.

I’m not sure if I’m FULLY back from my hiatus yet but I’ll talk more about that in my next post which will either be my Wrap Up or the post I had planned for today! Continue reading “SOME VERY EXCITING BOOK MAIL AKA I NEED TO FANGIRL!!! // oh, i WONDER what this WOMAN is talking about?”

Ten Dead Comedians by Fred van Lente // Jackie reads mysteries now?????

Yes, you read that right. I’ve actually read a mystery novel. I can’t believe it either tbh.

You guys know I prefer books that are either Contemporaries, or Fantasy (in all shapes and forms). SO WHAT HAPPENED HERE??? WHY DID I READ A MYSTERY NOVEL??? ME OF ALL PEOPLE???

Well, back when I first started out on Netgalley, I requested (and was approved for) Geekerella. I was SO excited that I just had to check out which other books Quirk Books had to offer—and Ten Dead Comedians caught my eye!

I don’t usually read mysteries but the synopsis caught my eye, and I felt like this would be a nice change to what I usually read!

Did the book live up to my expectations? Was it actually a nice change? Or did this book scare me off from the mystery genre forever? You’ll have to read my review to find out* 😛

*oh my god, could I get anymore annoying

unique-blogger

I don’t want to make this post too long so that’s why I will only mention half of the people who nominated me and do a Part 2 soon!

LMAO I’ve said “soon” but this most likely won’t happen until like December because I know me and I’m #lazy. DON’T JUDGE ME GO AWAY BYE. Continue reading “Unique Blogger Award // My Hogwarts House, lots of Shatter Me & more! (+ NEW DIVIDERS)”
