Do y’all know that video of the girl who got a speeding ticket and then she has a full emotional breakdown because “her life is going extremely downhill”. Because that is EXACTLY how I feel right now.
I honestly don’t even know how else to introduce this post.
This is basically just going to be me rambling about my life and everything that is going wrong at this very moment.
I’m in a pretty bad mental state, I could not care less about blogging right now, I lack any and all motivation to study for my exam and my reading mojo is off. I usually don’t talk about my struggles on my blog, but I’m tired and I just want to be honest with y’all.
So here we are.
I’m a little nervous to post this, but I just really needed to get these things off my chest and I hope you guys understand where I’m coming from.
Sit down and grab a snack because this is going to be rambly personal AF.
Have you ever set yourself New Year’s Resolutions and abandonded them two weeks into the new year?
Yeah. I think we can all relate.
I planned to do a 2018 goals post at the very beginning of the year so I could easily go back to it and hold myself accountable for actually keeping up with them.
As you can probably tell, I already failed that task.
I planned to abandon this post altogether because it seemed pretty pointless to post it when we’re already two months into the year. However, it is NEVER too late to set yourself some goals for the year so here I am.
you may have seen Swetlana’s post from last week about her 2018 reading goals which PROVES that it’s not too late!
Let’s hope I’ll actually stick to these goals instead of abandoning them like I do every year.
I know we’re already in the middle of January, but December was too good of a month for me.
It was Christmas and I got the best presents from family (BOOKS), friends (BOOKS) and myself (BOOKS). And yes, buying yourself Christmas presents is a thing because you can never have enough books.
December was also my best reading month of the year??? And I just barely* reached my unofficial goal of reading 100 books in 2017??? PHEW.
And what kind of fangirl would I be if I didn’t find a ton of new things to obsess about this month.
What is reading??? What is writing??? What is blogging??? What is life???
What. Even. Was. November.
I don’t think I’ve ever had such a bad reading month. In the first 3 weeks of November, I didn’t even pick up a single book for myself aka I only forced myself through the four tragic/average/trashy/boring books I had to read for uni.
My poor bookshelves were wailing for my attention, begging me to PLEASE JUST PICK OUT A SINGLE BOOK TO READ WE MISS YOU
But my brain was like NUH-UH you’re doing NaNo, you have to focus on WRITING.
Well, guess who didn’t do any writing either?????? Me.
can i take a nap for the next two months pls
Things got better at the end of the month BUT I’M STILL IN THIS WEIRD FUNK WHERE EVERYTHING I DO IS EXHAUSTING.
I don’t want to make my intro too depressing, but be prepared for an enourmous existentital crisis including lots of crying, exhaustion, flailing of arms and MAYBE a handful of good things that happened to me.
PS. HOW IS IT DECEMBER ALREADY IT’S BASICALLY CHRISTMAS AKA 2018 AKA CAN WE NOT IT’S GIVING ME ANXIETY
October has been an absolutely brilliant month for me. I am genuinely just SO HAPPY about everything that’s happened!!!
The first thing that needs to be mentioned is my return to blogging (which I’m still SO excited about!)—I still suck at blog hopping and commenting back on time but things are looking up! And I really enjoy writing blog posts again which is wonderful!
Secondly, I’ve read so many great books this month and I actively tried to read books that I was in the mood for, books on my physical TBR that I’ve been meaning to read for YEARS AKA SIX OF CROWS BITCHEEEESSSSS, and Netgalley ARCs that I’ve been wanting to knock off my shelves!
Thirdly, I’ve done some fantastic prepping and plotting for my novel and I feel ready to tackle NaNoWriMo………. is what I wish I could say. But no. That didn’t happen.
Fourthly (is that even a thing), I went to two concerts which made me SO FREAKING HAPPY and I also feel very happy and confident in general. I had WAY LESS anxiety this month than I had all year and I’m just so HAPPY lately. I’m kicking anxiety’s ass ❤
This has been a long time coming… I mean I’ve kind of hinted at it in my June Wrap Up and I’ve also been telling some of my fellow blogger friends about it but…
as you can already tell by the title, I hereby am announcing my hiatus!

2. a gathering of two or more fangirls in which they proceed to waste endless amounts of time ogling, discussing/arguing, stalking, etc. the object of their “affection”

It’s self-titled so it’s literally Harry Styles by Harry Styles. Iconic.
It’s my sister’s birthday today so I bought her the Vinyl! And the CD is for myself 😛
Obviously, as a former #1 One Direction fan from back in the days, all of the boys still have a special place in my heart. But I’ve just been particularly excited for Harry’s new music because his taste in music is so great and I knew his music would be really damn great as well.
I looovvveeee music from the 80’s, like that typical Rock ‘N Roll kind of music – David Bowie, Prince – I’M OBSESSED! And Harry’s new album is totally inspired by the 80’s while still being his own thing and I absolutely love it!!!!
And yes, I did stay up until midnight to hear HARRY STYLES by Harry Styles (I’ll never get tired of saying that!!!!) with my other dear Twitter friends and it was SO DAMN COOL. I still have my One Direction Twitter account with like 14K followers which I use quite regularly.
I always feel like Hannah Montana when switching between my book Twitter and my I-love-Harry-Styles Twitter account hahaha! 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀

ANYWAY. LET’S TALK ABOUT THE MASTERPIECE OF AN ALBUM, SHALL WE?
There is not a single song that I don’t like!!!! I might be biased because I’ve loved Harry for like 7 YEARS lol BUT THEY’RE ALL SO GOOD!
Sign of the Times was SUCH A GOOD DEBUT SINGLE – I swear the whole world was in love with it. And then he released Sweet Creature AND IT WAS SUCH A CUTE AND ADORABLE LIL SONG IT ALWAYS MADE ME SMILE AND GRIN AND FEEL ALL HAPPY AND GIDDY!!!!
But now that I’ve heard the whole album…… Boy, oh boy.
My top 2 are definitely Woman and From the Dining Table. ❤
Woman is such a classic rock song (it’s also a Snapchat filter!!!) and I LOVE JAMMING OUT TO IT. AND BOTH ONLY ANGEL AND KIWI ARE ANOTHER ONE OF THOSE REALLY COOL ROCK SONGS!!!! I LOVE!!!!! 😀
From the Dining Table makes me cry EVERY. DAMN. TIME. Something about it just hits me right in the feels and I start sobbing. And it’s TOTALLY A SONG THAT COULD BE PLAYED IN ONE OF THOSE TYPICAL ROMANTIC COMEDIES – BRIDGET JONES, NOTTING HILL, LOVE ACTUALLY – I’M SO HERE FOR IT!!!!!
And I still can’t believe the album is actually HERE! We’ve been anticipating it for so long and then it was April and Harry announced his new single and album and TOUR.

I WILL BE SEEING MY BOY HARRY IN OCTOBER!!!!!!!! I WAS ONE OF THOSE LUCKY 111,379 PEOPLE IN THE WORLD WHO GOT TICKETS TO ONE OF HIS SHOWS!
AND GUESS FUCKING WHAT! THE SHOW IS 2 DAYS BEFORE MY BIRTHDAY. 2 DAYS. WHAT. IS THAT NOT A REALLY FREAKIN’ GREAT PRESENT LIKE HARRY REALLY DID THAT.
Yes. Anyway. Enough freaking out for now.

Umm, let’s see….. The idea of having a blog has been playing around in my mind for quite a while – weeks, if not months before I created Too Much of a Book Nerd! I was very into makeup but also books and since I’m too shy (and scared lol) to have my own YouTube account, I decided a blog is the way to go! I was going to do a Makeup/Books crossover blog but eventually decided against it, as I am not makeup expert and pretty much just do whatever I want with it! 😀 So then, one day, when I had particularly too much time on my hands, I read like 10 different posts on ‘How To Create Your Own Blog’, picked a name for it, created an About page, my first blog post and boom – now here we are! 😀
Comment, comment, comment: If you liked someone’s post, let them know! It doesn’t matter whether it is a short and quick “Great post!” or a super long paragraph where you discuss every single detail – I think every blogger appreciates every single comment they get! At least I know that I do! ❤
Commenting on other people’s blogs also helps you to get your name out there and other bloggers might discover your blog and you will get comments in return!
Another thing is to always respond to your comments! I’ve had the experience with 1 or 2 people who never ever responded to any of mine or anyone else’s comments! That just irritated me to no end!
Be yourself: Don’t force yourself to be someone you’re not. If you hate a book that everyone adores, say it! Write that 1 star/DNF review and let people know! If you love participating in weekly memes, go for it! If you’re not into Young Adult, blog about the genre that you love! You are who you are and you have your own opinions and preferences. As promised, I am bringing you A NEW ORIGINAL SEGMENT/FEATURE OF MINE!!!! AHHHHHH!!! ❤
Alright, before I reveal anything, let’s dive into a little bit of backstory here;
Ever since I created my blog, maybe even before that, I knew that I wanted to have an original meme/segment/tag WHATEVER of my own but my super uncreative mind just couldn’t come up with something.
Last week, I was quite busy and I was thinking about the million things I still had to do for uni, my blog, life lol and I was scheduling and organising things in my head………. and then it just HIT ME. Like a brick.
Jackie Fangirls.
That name just randomly popped into my head and it stuck there for a while.
So I was thinking: “HEY! This totally reflects me and my personality!” I DO love some healthy fangirling 😀 I tend to get overly excited about (A LOT) of things. I start writing in all caps and use 500 different emojis to express my feelings and emotions.
So I thought why not turn this into a weekly segment/meme/feature (I don’t know what to call this)! 😀
Whenever I have something, anything to fangirl about, I will post about it! This doesn’t always have to do with books – you can fangirl about TV shows, music, celebrities, a recent meal you had, ANYTHING!
I think it’s a really cool idea!!!!! 😀
But…….. THIS IS WHERE YOU GUYS COME IN!!!!!!
QUESTION: Which name do you like better Jackie Fangirls or Fangirl Friday?
Jackie Fangirls makes it more personal and I won’t be constricted to post on a certain day in the week!
Fangirl Friday sounds a lot more neutral/universal and I could turn this into a weekly thing where YOU GUYS can join in! Kind of like a meme! 😀
So tell me which name you like better because I can’t decide! 😀
SECOND QUESTION: Would anyone be interested if I actually turned this into a (weekly) feature? Where other bloggers can join? That one would definitely be called Fangirl Friday then to make it more universal 😛
And this would be a weekly or bi-weekly, monthly, whenever-you-feel-like-you-need-to-fangirl-about-something thing where everyone just fangirls about whatever they want to fangirl about!
(I will post a more “official” description of this meme, explaining the “rules” or guidelines in my next post if people are actually interested in it.)

And I feel like I have to mention this – I googled “Fangirl Friday” and I’ve seen some people who made this a thing on their blogs, each had a different interpretation of what their own Fangirl Friday is. Pretty much all of the posts I’ve seen were from a couple years ago (like 2013) and their blogs are now abandoned. I don’t want to be accused of being a copy-cat because I literally just googled it like half an hour ago and I had no idea that this existed.
SO would you suggest that I call this Jackie Fangirls just so I’m in the clear??? Or is Fangirl Fridays alright??? Since it’s been abandonded by most of the other bloggers??? And I could like “revive” it?! I’m so insecure and nervous about this lol sorry for asking all these questions 😛
Anyway, that’s it for the announcement for now! Pleeeaasssseeee help me decide by answering my questions!
